USA win three to improve to 5-1 in Group 1 of WL

ROME, Italy June 26, 2016 – USA won their third match of the weekend in Rome as they downed hosts Italy 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-23) in the FIVB Volleyball World League with Thomas Jaeschke scoring a joint match-high 14 points together with Italy's Luca Vettori.

The victory of USA (5-1 win-loss) was built on the block as Italy experienced many difficulties to overcome it. Ivan Zaytsev was substituted through the match, as he suffered more than the other spikers.

USA showed a growth during the weekend, up to the closing match, playing at a high-level quality to deny Italy to finish the weekend with three victories.

USA claimed victory over Belgium in their opening match on the second FIVB Volleyball World League weekend at Rome’s PalaLottomatica, winning 3-2 (17-25, 25-20, 25-21, 21-25, 15-10) as Matt Anderson once again led from the front.

In a topsy-turvy match, Anderson continued his impressive form from last week's tournaments with 22 points, backed up with 14 points from William Priddy. Belgium was led by Gert Van Walle who top scored in the game with 24 points.

Anderson led USA to a 3-1 (20-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-20) victory over Australia scoring team-high 18 points in the Pool E1 World League encounter. Paul Carroll was Australia's top scorer with 20 points, extending his overall tally to 65 points.
