USA's Kim Hill honoured with World Championship MVP

 

MILAN, Italy, October 12, 2014 – Kimberly Hill of the United States headlined the Dream Team for the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship Italy 2014 after scoring a team-high 20 points in the gold-medal match victory against China.

 

Hill was named the most valuable player and Second Best Outside Spiker of the tournament. She totaled 159 points during the course of the 13 matches in the World Championship. She averaged 3.61 points per set in the 44 sets USA played.

 

“I feel ecstatic and happy and just can't believe it's real,” Hill said. “The award was a surprise and I still can't believe it either, it's just amazing. Tonight it's everything. Eating, drinking and we're just going to celebrate being together.”

 

Along with Hill, USA teammate Alisha Glass was selected for Best Setter. Silver medalist China was represented on the Dream Team by Ting Zhu as Best Outside Spiker and Junjing Yang as Second Best Middle Blocker. Brazil, the bronze medalists, had Thaisa as Best Middle Blocker and Sheilla as Best Opposite. Monica DeGennaro of Italy was awarded the Best Libero.

 

Brazil coach Ze Roberto was awarded the Fair Play award.
