USA-B women reign supreme in Martinique
POINTE DU-MARIN, Martinique, October 28, 2018 - It was a case
of the North American invasion as USA-B’s Katherine Spieler and
Karrisa Cook topped the women’s edition of the sixth and final
stop on the 2018 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit.
Facing next door neighbors, Canada-A’s Sophie Bukovec and
Alexandra Poletto, in the title match, Spieler and Cook
triumphed 21-18, 20-22, 15-12 in three minutes under one hour
for a first ever NORCECA tour win.
This after the Canadians survived a match point in the second
set before taking the set to extend the match.
In the semifinals, Spieler and Cook overcame Puerto Rico’s
Allanis Navas Sanchez and Maria Gonzalez 17-21, 21-18, 15-10 and
Bukovec and Poletto defeated countrywomen Amanda Harnett and
Marie-Christine Lapointe 21-16, 21-15.
Harnett and Lapointe got bronze after beating Sanchez and
Gonzalez, 21-18, 11-21, 15-13.
