USC gives a special tribute to Bibiana Candelas
LOS ANGELES, United States, October 25, 2014 - The University of
Southern California (USC), paid recently a special tribute to
Mexican Volleyball player Bibiana Candelas, during one of the
Trojans’ matches at the Galen Center.
Candelas’ number 7, who as a college athlete played indoor
volleyball with USC was set in the ring of honor. As university
player, Candelas defended the Trojans’ colors as a middle
blocker. She was recognized as one of the best players in that
position in the history of NCAA Volleyball, after receiving the
All American Honors in three times.
“It is a very nice feeling to get back to the University where
you grew up and meeting again those people that were very
important in such a great part of your life,” said Candelas who
has become one of the best beach volleyball players at the
Norceca International Circuit.
“I’m very proud for being part of the USC family. I appreciate
this recognition that is just the reflection of a great team
work,” She added. “I want to thank everybody for their words and
all of those who have supported me in every moment during my
sports career, specially to my family and friends.”
As indoor player, Candelas was part of the Mexican National team
that competed at the first editions of the Pan American Cup as
well as the Central American and Caribbean Games of Cartagena
2006. Later on She made a transition into beach volleyball and
became one of the most successful players at the Norceca Tour.
Along with Mayra Garcia (now retired), Candelas played at the
Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and won a silver medal at the Pan
