PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti, May 27, 2016 – The annual National
Volleyball Club Tournament of Haiti concluded with the finals
held on May 20-21 at the Olympic Center Sport of Hope.
Six men’s teams and seven women’s teams, hailing from various
regions of the country, took part in the competition won by
Banzai in the male division and Umasmoh in the female segment.
Tigresses, Banzai and Ouanaminthe finished second, third and
fourth, respectively, in the women’s tournament while Magic,
Tigers and Port Margot followed in the men’s division.
Unasmoh battled their way and dominated defending champions
Tigresses while Banzai, comprised of seasoned and experienced
players, held off Magic, who played well throughout the
tournament only to succumb at the end.
Saradjine Jean Jacques of Unasmoh and Kempes Vilmont of Banzai
were selected as the most valuable players.
Margareth Graham, president of the Haitian Volleyball
Federation, remarked the performance of the refereeing team “who
showed discipline and increasing professionalism under the
supervision of Pedro Cedme.” |
