United States Advances to the Semifinals

of the U17 Pan American Cup

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, August 7, 2026.- The United States defeated Guatemala 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-14) to advance to the semifinals of the Boys’ U17 Pan American Cup at the Multi-Sports Dome in Guatemala City.

The United States rested several of its key players. In the first set, the Americans looked uncertain, allowing Guatemala to stay close and reach a 13-13 tie. The United States gradually gained confidence and was able to impose its game to take the set.

Better settled on the court in the second set, the United States took control and gave Guatemala few opportunities, despite the Guatemalans showing strong defense and, at times, a solid attack. In the third set, the U.S. team looked even more solid and secured the straight-set victory.

The United States led all team statistics, holding advantages in attacks 37-24, blocks 9-1, and aces 5-2.

Siddanth Saikanth was the top performer for the United States and the match, finishing with 14 points, including three blocks. Jackson Real contributed 12 points, including two blocks.

For Guatemala, Oscar Velásquez stood out with 13 points, including three aces.

The United States will face Venezuela in the semifinals on Saturday, August 8 at 8:00 p.m., while Guatemala will play Puerto Rico at 2:00 p.m. in the classification round.

Siddanth Saikanth of the United States: “It was a great battle between both teams, and I’m very happy that our team came out with the victory. This is my second time with the youth national team; last year I also participated in the NORCECA U17 Championship.”

Oscar Velásquez of Guatemala: “It was a good match. Both teams gave everything we had, and I think we played pretty well. The United States is a great team.”
