United States Powers Past Dominican Republic

to Reach the Continental Championship Final

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, August 25, 2026.- The United States advanced to the gold medal match of the 2026 NORCECA Women’s Continental Championship after defeating the Dominican Republic in straight sets 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-10) at the Prof. Ricardo Gioriver Arias Volleyball Palace.

The United States will face Canada this Wednesday for the championship, with the Americans seeking their eighth NORCECA Continental Championship title. Canada will be looking to capture its first-ever title in the competition.

The Dominican Republic will face Cuba for the bronze medal.

The United States’ blocking proved to be a decisive factor in the semifinal, as the Americans held a commanding 15-3 advantage at the net. They also outperformed the Dominican Republic in attacks (38-26) and aces (7-1). The Dominican Republic committed 15 errors compared to 17 by the United States.

The American block was particularly effective in the third set. With the United States holding an 8-6 lead, its presence at the net helped spark a dominant run that extended the advantage to 15-6, putting the set firmly under American control.

Simone Lee led the United States with 16 points (13 kills and 3 blocks), followed by Asjia O’Neal and Logan Eggleston with 12 points each, while Jordan Thompson added 11.

For the Dominican Republic, Flormarie Heredia scored 8 points and Yonkaira Peña added 7.
