CALLAO, Peru, June 15, 2015 – United States cruised to another
victory in straight sets (25-11, 25-9, 25-5) this time against a
young Costa Rica opponent during the third day of the XIV
Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup at Miguel Grau Coliseum of
				Callao.

The Americans were the superior team while dominating in attacks
(42-10), blocks (3-1) and also stood out with their serves
				scoring 11 points via aces.

Based on the quick game, the Americans dominated from start to
finish and used many combinations that caused many difficulties
to the young Costa Rican team.

The top scorer of the match was American Michelle Bartsch with
16 points while Marcela Araya had just 4 points as the best
				scorer of Costa Rica.

Araya, the captain of Costa Rica: “United States is a great
team. We went out to play but we couldn’t do too much against
such experienced team. This is an important tournament for us to
				grow as a team.”

Kristin Hildebrand, captain of United States, said: “I am very
happy with our result today. My team did a great job and it was
reflected on the scoreboard. Our next match is against Mexico
and they have good defense so we have to check stats and see how
				we can overcome them.”

Braulio Godinez, coach of Costa Rica: “We have to give credit to
United States, the current world champions even without their
top group. They know how to form teams on a short notice. Our
process has just started this year and this tournament will show
				us where we are.”

“Today the girls played well and consistent. We give
opportunities to the rest of the team and didn’t disappoint. I
have a team committed to do a job and that is always a plus for
the coach,” said David Hunt, the USA coach. |
