The United States team fell to Italy to finish
fourth in the Women's Volleyball World
Championship that was played jointly in Poland
and the Netherlands.
Italy, which finished in third place, defeated
the United States in straight sets with a score
of 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 27-25). Italy outscored
the Americans in spikes (42-31), blocks (10-7)
and serves (4-3).
For the Italians Paola Egonu got 25 points,
Myriam Sylla 9 and Caterina Boseti and Anna
Danesi added 8 respectively. For the United
States, Andrea Drews scored 10 points and
captain Kelsey Robinson added another 8 points. |
