United States stop Barbados and achieves second triumph
TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras. August 27, 2018 - The United States won
3-0 (25-10, 25-7, 25-16) over Barbados for its second victory to
be the momentary leaders of Group B, in the Norceca U-18 Women's
Volleyball Championship.
Emily Londot and Allysa Batenhorts got 10 points each, while for
Barbados Tenneille Chapman was seven. United States took
advantage in attack (37-11), blocking (4-0) and service (11-1).
Breanna Kelly, outstanding player of the United States: "We try
to do our best and play our game without what our opponent does.
We're thinking that number 17 in Barbados (Tenneille Chapman)
would be the most difficult to stop and we tried to make her
play as little as possible, and it worked."
James Stone, coach of the United States: "The good thing is that
we gave many of the players who had not entered, and that will
help us to see ourselves much better as we advance in the
tournament."
"Each team has the potential to help us be better, no matter
which rival we have in front of us, as long as we focus on what
we can do to play better in the future."
Dashonta Addison, captain of Barbados: "We fought from the start
in the third set, but we could not keep up. We have one game
left and we will fight more again."
Anthazia Mason, coach of Barbados: "Today we had more heart
against the United States, something that was demonstrated
within the game. I'm really happy that they had a goal, we went
down in the second set, but then we were better, they were
happier and I think that's the idea, enjoy the game." |
