United States, Canada, and Costa Rica in Women’s Semifinals
PUERTO CORTÉS, Honduras, October 19, 2024. - The two teams from the
United States will face off in the semifinals of the sixth stop of the
NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour, ensuring a spot in the final, while the
other semifinal will feature Costa Rica against Canada.
Katie Lindstrom/Tifanny Svenssohn from the United States defeated Shana
Rivera/Cecille Johnson from Honduras 2-0 (21-6, 21-9) in quarterfinals
and advanced to the semifinals, where they will face the other U.S. team
Rachel Kramer/Jade Race, who beat Guatemala’s Natalia Girón and Paola
Alvarado 2-0 (21-18, 21-19).
The other semifinal will feature Costa Rica’s Sofía Vega/Eugenia
Ramírez, who won 2-1 (18-21, 21-18, 16-14) against Sarah Penner/Melanie
Valenciana from the U.S. Virgin Islands. Their opponents will be Amy
Ozee/Kaylee Glagau from Canada, who defeated Nicaragua’s Nahima
Silva/Lolette Rodríguez 2-0 (21-18, 21-13) in quarterfinals.
The tournament had a delay of a little over two hours due to bad
weather, which left the municipal courts in Puerto Cortés in poor
condition. However, the Organizing Committee did an excellent job
restoring them, ensuring the athletes’ safety and maintaining the
quality of the event.
The semifinals will take place at 9:45 a.m. with the Canada vs. Costa
Rica match, followed by the U.S. teams facing off at 10:30 a.m.
