SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 10, 2016 – A new
formula to evaluate the overall skills of outside hitters,
middle-blockers, opposite players and setters has been proposed
by the VIS and Statistics Commission of NORCECA during its
annual meeting on Wednesday.
The new formula allows a comprehensive evaluation of the best
players in each of those positions for the composition of the
ideal team in each of the competition.
The president of the commission Judith Sandino said the formula
will be integrated to the VIS system and tested during the U23
Women’s Pan American Cup in Peru later this year.
Alberto Rigamonti, director of Info & Technology of FIVB, took
part in the meeting through a video conference and will
implement a formula based on the different skills percentage
proposed by the commission.
It is the second consecutive year that the members of the VIS &
Stats Commission analyze the convenience of using an expanded
formula to gauge the overall skills of the players. It will be
submitted to the Board of Administration of NORCECA.
The VIS & Stats Commission reviewed the participation of their
delegates at the NORCECA volleyball and beach volleyball
competitions in 2015 and prepared the working plan for a busy
2016 season. |
