VIS Seminar begins in Tijuana, Mexico
TIJUANA, Mexico, September 21, 2015 – The FIVB-Norceca Regional
Development Center is the host of a new international course,
with the beginning of the Volleyball Information System Seminar
(VIS).
The course is directed by international instructor and VIS
Officer, Diego Soler, from Argentina, who recently worked as
Indoor Volleyball VIS Delegate during the Rio 2016 Olympic
Games, celebrated at the Maracanazinho Arena.
Most of the attendees, who have some experience as VIS personnel
in several international events such as Pan Am Cups, Continental
Championships and Age Group World Championships began their
preparation in order to be officially certified.
The VIS is a very important tool for statistics in matches and
tournaments, as well as a great support for the media, Soler
mentioned during the introduction of the seminar aspects.
Since the decade of the 90’s VIS has been the backbone in the
exchange of information and at the same time, its structure has
served as a reference to the development of stats and
information system for other sport disciplines.
“This system has also been useful for the press for their match
descriptions and match reports in tournaments of all ages”,
Soler remarked.
This has also helped the coaches for their scouting reports and
analysis of teams’ performances. The seminar sessions take place
at the IT Room located inside the Athletes’ School of the
Development Center at the Baja California High Performance
Center.
Attendees participate in theoretical sessions as well as in
technical expositions by following up real game actions in video
projections of World Championships and Olympic Games Matches. |
