VIS Workshop in preparation for Barranquilla Central American
Games
BARRANQUILLA, Colombia, July 19, 2018 - A four-day VIS
(volleyball information system) workshop took place before the
opening of the 2018 Barranquilla XXIII Central American Games
running from July 20 to August 2.
The NORCECA Volleyball Confederation, understanding the
importance of teaching and preparing personnel to support the
volleyball tournament of the Games, took the initiative to
celebrate a workshop conducted by Judith Sandino of Nicaragua,
President VIS Technical and Statistical Commission of NORCECA.
The COBAR (organizing committee of the Games of Barranquilla) in
a joint effort with Barranquilla’s City Hall and the Atlantic
Volleyball League Manager Mr. Jose Salvador Pagano andVice-President
Mr. Ney Jose Buendia, contributed to the success of the workshop
by providing computer equipment, projection room and the
personnel that at this moment performs the valuable task of
gathering the statistical information of the event until August
2nd when the Games conclude.
Sandino arrived on July 14 at Barranquilla where she gathered a
group of nineteen volunteers, among volleyball players and
coaches, celebrating theory sessions at the INDEPORTES
auditorium (Institute of Recreation and Sports of the Atlantic)
and practice sessions at the competition hall.
The instruction was much easier with people with volleyball
knowledge. Five of the students were coaches, who benefited from
NORCECA’s contribution.
It is necessary to address the importance of this workshop,
because this is the first official NORCECA event that uses a new
and versatile system, which currently operates in any computer
system, enabling its execution in any competition. |
