Venegas Performance Earns Weekly Honors

April 7, 2026.- After anchoring the San Diego back row in a 2-0 week, libero Shara Venegas has been named the Major League Volleyball Player of the Week presented by Franklin Sports. She is the second Mojo player this season to earn weekly recognition.  

The native of Toa Baja, Puerto Rico ended the week by leading San Diego to a five-set win over Dallas that snapped the Pulse eight-match winning streak. She recorded 28 digs (5.6 per set) and three assists, tying for the most digs in a five-set match by any league player this season. It was also the second-most digs in a match in franchise history as her defensive performance helped the Mojo tie a team record with 101 digs in the victory.

Two days earlier in a road sweep of Columbus, Venegas totaled 11 digs and four assists across three sets, averaging 3.67 digs and 1.33 assists. San Diego hit .375 in that match.  

Across the week, Venegas averaged 4.88 digs and 0.88 assists, providing elite consistency in serve receive and defense. Her performance was a key factor in the Mojo’s balanced attack and overall efficiency as the two wins moved her team into postseason position. The victory on Sunday marked San Diego’s seventh at home this year, tying a single-season franchise record.
