Venezuela gets to hand in duel against Dominican Republic
SANTA MARTA, Colombia, November 22, 2017 – Venezuela won a duel
against Dominican Republic 3-2 (28-26, 13-25, 16-25, 25-20,
15-10) to conclude undefeated at 3-0 in Pool A of the men’s
volleyball tournament of the Bolivarian Games on Tuesday.
Jesus Gómez (16), Wilner Rivas (15), Paul Viloria (14) and
Ronald Fayola (12) were the best scorers for Venezuela. Richi
Paulino and Felix Romero had 20 and 18, respectively, for the
Dominican Republic. Geiro Perez and Cesar Díaz added 14 and 12
in the losing effort.
The Dominicans saw their record to drop to 1-2, the same as
Chile and Peru with the Chilean side with better sets-ratio.
Host Colombia beat Ecuador 3-0 (27-25, 25-17. 25-17) to finish
with a win-loss record of 3-0 in Pool B.
In the other matches on Tuesday, Peru defeated Chile 3-1 (25-20,
25-23, 22-25, 25-20) and Bolivia downed Panama 3-1 (26-24,
25-20, 20-25, 25-18).
In Wednesday’s semifinals, Colombia will go against Chile while
Venezuela will play Ecuador which finished second in Pool B with
a 2-1 record. |
