Venezuela, Paraguay, Canada and USA
are in the women’s semifinals
ASUNCIÓN, Paraguay, August 20, 2025.- The women’s beach volleyball
semifinals at the II Junior Pan American Games Asunción 2025 were
defined, between Venezuela against Paraguay and the United States
against Canada. The semifinals will be played this Thursday at the
Pynandí Stadium of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee.
Sara López and Darlin Rodríguez from Venezuela qualified for the
semifinal by defeating Estephannie Castillo/Yezet Romero of Peru 2-0
(21-11, 21-13) in quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Denisse Álvarez/Fiorella
Núñez from Paraguay defeated María Isabel Chacón/María José Galindo
from Bolivia in a thrilling match 2-1 (19-21, 21-10, 15-6). Earlier
in the round of 16, the Paraguayans had defeated Laura Molina/Sofía
Vega from Costa Rica 2-0 (21-13, 21-9).
In the other quarterfinal matches, Emma Donley and Portia Sherman
from the United States beat Cubans Maykelin Drik/Kailin Garrido 2-0
(21-14, 21-17). For their part, Canada defeated 2-1 (16-21, 21-13,
15-9) the current junior Pan American champions, Brazil.
The champion will secure a direct berth to the Pan American Games
Lima 2027. In addition, the best-ranked team from the opposite
continental confederation that does not win the gold medal will also
qualify.
