Veracruz 2014, a competition for a legacy: Marte Hoffiz
CORDOBA, Mexico, November 10, 2014 - NORCECA President and FIVB
First Executive Vice President, Cristobal Marte Hoffiz remarked
that the XXII Central American and Caribbean Games of Veracruz
2014 are a competition for a legacy.
After the arrival of Control Committe Members assigned for the
Games, the first official meeting took place at the Tres
Padierna Hall of the Fortin de las Flores Hotel that will host
the competing teams.
“I want to share a message of gratitude and appreciation from
our FIVB President Dr. Ary Graça, who has been aware of all the
activities as we prepare for the beginning of the Central
American Games,” Marte Hoffiz said.
“For the Norceca Confederation as well as the South American
Confederation and Dr. Graça this competition has a great
meanning. He expressed it at the FIVB Congress in Italy, where
He also recongnized all the work done in our region.”
Along with Cristobal Marte, Norceca First Executive Vice
President, Saul Castro Verdugo, and Rafael Lloreda, President of
the South American Volleyball Confederations were at the
meeting.
“We have made a total of seven inspection visits to Cordoba as
time got closer. There is already a legacy in Cordoba, a city
with a great volleyball tradition, and with a venue that was
built specifically for the competition,” President Marte added.
“As far as I know we have been the only confederation that
provided training seminars in volleyball and beach volleyball in
both cities, Cordoba and Veracruz, as well as technical and
material resources, such as a playing court, volleyballs and
antennas, for example,” He said.
“The audience deserves a first class event, as we establish and
prepare for the right protocols.”
Training schedules as well as the operations and communications
strategies were analyzed along with the Veracruz Organizing
Committee Officers. For the first time in the Games, electronic
scoring sheet will be used with the support of the Data Volley
System
History has just begun in Cordoba with the preliminary
inspections and preparation of the stage for the first matches,
scheduled on Saturday November 15.
“The Games will remain with a big legacy. That legacy is the
Cordoba Arena, for present and future generations, as well as
the remodeling work for El Mexicano Gym,” Marte Hoffiz,
explained.
“These facilities are useful not only for sports. Also social,
musical and community events can take place there, and of course
we as the Norceca Confederation want to bring more and more
tournaments in a near future.” |
