Virgen and Sarabia keep their winning way at La Paz

LA PAZ, Baja California Sur, May 14, 2022 – Juan Virgen and Miguel Sarabia continued their winning campaign as the Mexican duo advanced to a semifinal contest against Puerto Ricans Kevin Gutierrez and Josue Rivera at La Paz Beach Volleyball Tournament, the third stop of the NORCECA Circuit.

Virgen and Sarabia won their quarterfinals match against Canadians Simon Fecteau-Boutin/Hugo Rosso-Bonneau 2-0 (21-18, 21-18) while Gutierrez and Rivera defeated Americans Thimothy Brewster and Logan Webber 2-0 (21-17, 23-21).

The other semifinal will feature Americans Cory Evans and William Kolinske against Canadians Alex Russell and Jake McNeil.

Evans/Kolinske overcame tough Guatemala’s Andy Blanco and Luis García 2-1 (22-24, 21-15, 15-10) as also did Russell/McNeill who edged Mexicans Jorge Barajas and Gabriel Cruz 2-1 (21-17, 16-21, 15-10).

Earlier on Saturday, Blanco/Garcia defeated Salvadorans Franklin Flores and Armando Guatemala 2-0 (21-15, 21-19), Barajas/Cruz subdued Austin Pipen and Daniel Samuelson of U.S. Virgin Islands, Rodríguez/Rivera beat David and Gabriel Vargas of El Salvador 2-0 (21-15, 21-11) and Feacteau-Boutin/Rosso-Bonneau beat Costa Ricans Criforth Lobo and Fabian Guerra 2-0 (21-12, 21-15).

In the round for the 13 to 16 positions, Mexico’s Ricardo Galindo and Isaias Aguirre won over Penny and Seabrookes 2-0 (21-14, 21-13) while Bryce Mayer and Brian Kwasny of U.S. Virgin Islands received a bye.
