CORDOBA, Mexico, October 3, 2015 - The Cordoba Arena prepares to
receive the best teams of the region for the Norceca Men’s
Continental Championship, a competition that is also a
classification tournament for the Olympic Qualifier to Rio 2016.
NORCECA Control Committee Officers held their first official
meeting and preliminari inspections along with the Local
Organizing Committee Members in order to analyze the details of
the tournament that marks the return of volleyball to the venue
that hosted this sport at the last edition of the Central
American and Caribbean Games of Veracruz 2014.
A total of four places are given to the top four teams in order
to participate at the NORCECA Pre-Olympic tournament that will
take place in 2016.
The President of the Control Committee, Cesar Osuna Brambila,
welcomed the attendants to the meeting. “We are very pleased to
return to this stage that was part of the Games of Veracruz
2014, that were very successful. We are confident about the work
developed by the organizers for this tournament,” Osuna stated.
On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee, the Director of the
Municipal Sports Commission of Cordoba, Juan Gerardo Perdomo,
remarked the efforts done as the beginning of competition nears.
“Personnel of the city council as well as a lot of citizens and
volunteers have responded to contribute in the organization of
this championship, as you can see we are in track to have
everything ready,” said Perdomo.
Along with the Preliminary Inquiries as well as the General
Technical Meeting, a Press Conference is scheduled on Sunday
with Norceca President and FIVB First Executive Vice President,
Cristobal Marte Hoffiz.
President Marte Hoffiz is expected to arrive to Cordoba after
his attendance to the Women’s Continental Championship that
concluded in the city of Morelia, also in Mexico. |
