Williams/Araya and Silva/Rodríguez start with double victory in Women Central American Beach

 

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, August 25, 2023 - Angel Williams/Kianny Araja (CRC1) and Nahima Silva/Lolette Rodríguez (NCA1) opened the XXI Central American Senior Beach Volleyball Championship, which kicked off at Campo Marte in Guatemala City with two victories.

 

In Group A, Costa Rica's team 1 of Angel Williams and Kianny Araya, secured two wins. First, they dominated Alejandra Rosales/M. Fernanda Jarquín (NCA2) with a 2-0 (21-12/21-11) victory, and then they triumphed over the host team of Natalia Girón/Paola Alvarado (GUA1) by 21-12, 21-18.

 

Rosales and Jarquín (NCA2) later defeated Zoé Ebanks/Reizel Bruhier of Honduras 2-0 (21-12/21-07), while Girón and Alvarado (GUA1) came from behind to win 2-1 (17-21, 25-22, 15-8) against the Honduran team.

 

Yvonne Soler and Laura Molina (ESA2) won the only match they played against Honduras by 2-0 (21-6, 21-11).

 

In Group B, Nahima Silva along with Lolette Rodríguez (NCA1) triumphed 2-1 (15-21/21-7/15-10) against Guatemala's team 2 of Maritza Zúñiga/Danna Aguilar, and against El Salvador's team one, Kathya Vásquez/Sofia Velázquez 21-15, 21-14. Vásquez and Velázquez had earlier defeated Sofía Vega/Aliza Aguilar from CRC2 21-12 and 21-7.

 

Vega and Aguilar (CRC2) improved their record to 1-1 after defeating Zúñiga/Aguilar (GUA2) 21-13, 21-18.

 

This Saturday, starting at 9:00 AM, the second day of the qualification phase will be played, leading up to Sunday's matches for positions and the teams advancing to the semifinals and finals.
