Women teams of Canada undefeated in Ocho Rios

OCHO RIOS, Jamaica, June 23, 2017 – The two teams of Canada one from United States and Guatemala won their two matches in opening day of the Ocho Rios Beach Volleyball Tournament, the third stage of the 2017 NORCECA Circuit on Friday.

Playing in Pool A, Helen Rancour and Sarah Meunier-Bedard of Canada-B defeated Jamaica’s Kai Wright and Tsashi Williams 2-0 (21-12, 21-16) before outdueling Mexico’s Zaira Orellana and Stephanie Burnside 2-1 (18-21, 21-116, 16-14).

Also in Pool A, Natalia Girón and Estefanie Bathancourt of Guatemala won two tough matches over Orellana/Burnside 2-0 (21-16, 26-24) and Wright/Williams 2-1 (21-15, 18-21, 15-9).

In Pool B, Jamie Broder and Sophie Bukovec of Canada-A defeated Jace Pardon and Lara Dykstra of USA-A 2-0 (21-17, 21-17) and the Dominican Republic team of Camila Moreno and Franchesca Santana 2-0 (21-8, 21-7).

In Pool C, Kearisa Cook and Katie Spieler of USA-B beat Karen Cope and Natalia Alfaro of Costa Rica 2-0 (21-15, 21-15) and then beat Cuiba’s Lianma Flores and Yanisleidis Sanchez 2-0 (21-17, 21-11).

The pool play will be completes and quarterfinals played on Saturday with the semifinals and medal matches on Sunday.
