Women’s Beach Volleyball Final between
the United States and Venezuela
ASUNCIÓN, Paraguay, August 21, 2025.- This Thursday the women’s
beach volleyball final of the II Junior Pan American Games Asunción
2025 was defined, between the United States and Venezuela at the
Pynandí Stadium of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee.
Emma Donley and Portia Sherman of the United States had a tough
first set, before defeating Jaeya Brach and Sophia Hladyniuk of
Canada 22-20 and 21-17, who fought until the last point, staying
just short in both sets.
In the other semifinal, Sara López and Darlin Rodríguez of Venezuela
had nerves of steel to defeat the Paraguayans Denisse Álvarez and
Fiorella Núñez, 21-17 and 21-17, in front of a full stadium,
The final will be played this Friday, August 22 at 8 PM (local time)
between the United States and Venezuela, and the bronze medal will
be played at 6 PM between Paraguay and Canada.
The United States and Venezuela secured a spot for the Lima 2027 Pan
American Games, since the regulations state that the champion of the
tournament and the best-ranked team from the opposite confederation
that does not win the title qualify for the event.
In the matches for positions 5-8, María Isabel Chacón and María José
Galindo of Bolivia won their match against Estephannie
Castillo/Yezet Romero of Peru 2-0 (21-16, 21-14); while Cubans
Maykelin Drik and Kailin Garrido surprised Brazilians Carolina
Sallaberry and Julia Vieira 2-0 (23-21, 21-16). This Friday
Chacón/Galindo BOL will face Drik/Garrido CUB for fifth place in the
tournament, while Brazil and Peru will play for 7th place.

Molina/Sofía V. CRC 2-0 (21-18, 21-15); Abdala/Najul ARG def.
Beleño/Gaviria COL 2-0 (21-12, 21-17).
The last day of the tournament will begin at 9:45 AM with matches
for the last positions, followed by the Bronze Medal match at 6 PM
and the Gold Medal will be played at 8 PM. |
