Workshop for Journalists successfully organized in Santo Domingo
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, April 3, 2018 – A workshop
for journalists and photographers to cover the upcoming National
District Women’s Superior Volleyball Tournament was organized by
the local association on Tuesday.
The workshop was under the direction of Roosevelt Comarazamy,
NORCECA Press Director, who was accompanied by the experienced
photographer Ernesto Beltré and VIS supervisors Yanida Pascual
and Bienvenido Mateo.
Comarazamy shared his experiences covering world and Olympic
events during his presentation under the title “Volleyball for
Everyone”.
The veteran journalist was introduced by his colleague Renaldo
Bodden, press officer of the Dominican Volleyball Federation.
“It was a good experience as I encouraged all participants to
get involved with the sport and learn by the experiences of
everyday,” Comarazamy said. “In sports the most important things
are those that you learn after you know.”
Bodden said the results were very positive as we approach the
start of the competition next Friday.
More than 40 journalists took part of the course which prompted
Nelson Ramírez, director of the NORCECA Regional Development
Center to praise their interest.
Angel Rivas, president of the association welcomed the
participants and Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of NORCECA
commented on the importance of the course for a correct
interpretation of what is going on in a particular match.
He remarked on the fact that volleyball is a discipline that
pays importance to communications with the fans.
The event is dedicated to the First Lady of the Dominican
Republic Mme Candida Montilla de Medina and four teams are
registered to participate – Mirador, Cristo Rey, Guerreras and
Caribeñas.
The Tournament is backed by the Ministry of Sports of the
