GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, June 9, 2015 - The XV Central
American BVB Championship will be running from June 12-14 at
Puerto Cortes beach in Honduras, with the best volleyball
players from the AFECAVOL zone.
Eleven female teams and twelve men teams have registered for the
double gender competition, battling in a preliminary pool-play
phase where the top two of each pool and the two best third
placed will advance to the next round.
Costa Rica is both the defending women and men champions and
also the top all-time winners with nine crowns in both genders.
Costa Rican Natalia Alfaro, will be seeking to tie the eight
tittles achieved by her former partner and current coach Ingrid
Morales, the biggest beach volleyball star of the zone. Alfaro
arrives as favorite along with Karen Cope looking for their
second consecutive title as a team.
In the men’s division, Bryan Monge has won the nine titles for
Costa Rica and will couple up with Richard Smith as team 2. The
reigning champion, Diego Alpizar, will play with Julio Alvarez.
Pools in the women’s division are POOL A: HON1, PAN,
CRC2; POOL B: CRC1, NCA1, GUA2, ESA2; POOL C:
GUA1, ESA1, HON2, NCA2. The men’s will play divided in POOL D:
HON1, PAN, BIZ, GUA2; POOL E: CRC1, NCA1, HON2, ESA2;
POOL F: GUA1, ESA1, CRC2, NCA2.
The official registration and schedule will be approved on
Thursday June 11th and competition gets underway from
Friday 12th thru Sunday 14th.
