Yarimar Rosa named MVP of Puerto Rican League

 

   

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, April 17, 2015 – Yarimar Rosa was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2015 Puerto Rican Women’s Volleyball Superior League.

 

It is the second MVP title for the outside hitter of Juncos who had won the award in 2012 when she played for Mayaguez.

 

Rosa received 20 first-place votes and totaled 110 points. Natalia Valentin, setter of Ponce, got 37 points with two first-place votes to finish second. Karina Ocasio of Caguas was third with 28 points.

 

The native of Vega Baja, who played for Florida International University (FIU), has represented Puerto Rico since her junior years. She played at NORCECA Junior and Youth Championships and at the 2005 FIVB Junior World Championship in Turkey.

 

In 2013, Rosa was named captain of the senior women’s national team of Puerto Rico and the following year had her first experience with a foreign club playing in the Italy A-1 League.
