Yonkaira Peña Named MVP as Dominican Republic Dominates Individual Awards at Santo Domingo 2026

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, August 7, 2026.- Yonkaira Peña of the Dominican Republic was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the women’s volleyball tournament at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, leading a strong Dominican presence among the individual award winners.

Peña, who helped the Dominican Republic capture its seventh consecutive gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games, also received the First Best Spiker award.

The Dominican Republic earned 10 of the 12 individual awards presented following the conclusion of the tournament. Brayelin Martínez was recognized as Second Best Spiker, Geraldine González and Jineiry Martínez received the First and Second Best Blocker awards, respectively, and Niverka Marte was selected as Best Setter.

Brenda Castillo collected three individual honors, being named Best Libero, Best Digger and Best Receiver, while Gaila González received the Best Server award.

Cuba’s Yalain de la Peña completed the list of honorees with two awards, earning Best Opposite and Best Scorer.
