MacTavish and Whitaker win women’s gold
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, November 24, 2013. - Kacie MacTavish and
Caleigh Whitaker of CAN-A won the women’s Gold at the tenth leg
of the 2013 NORCECA Circuit in Costa Rica. MacTavish and
Whitaker beat Heather Hughes and Lane Carico of USA-A in the
final on a windy Sunday afternoon by 2-1 (21-17, 19-21, 15-11).
It is the second gold medal of the year for
MacTavish/Whitaker as they also this year in Guatemala and their
third overall medal with a silver in Puerto Rico. “We started
and finished the season with a gold medal. It’s an awesome
feeling, we played freely applying what we learned over the year
and now we’ll take some time off,” MacTavish said. Whitaker, who
will still play the last stage in Trinidad & Tobago, said: “We
definitely plan to continue playing together and it was a
wonderful building up season.

Ontiveros/Virgen set new NORCECA record
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, November 24, 2013. – Mexico’s Lombardo
Ontiveros and Juan Virgen set a new all-time NORCECA record of
victories in a season by winning the gold medal at the tenth
stage of the 2013 NORCECA Circuit in Costa Rica on Sunday. Ontiveros
and Virgen won a thrilling three-set battle against the USA-A
Team of John Hyden and Tri Bourne 21-16, 19-21, 15-12. The
Mexicans broke the old record of five wins established y Virgen
himself playing with Aldo Miramontes in 2010.

Mexico’s Ontiveros/Virgen a shot to NORCECA’S new record
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, November 23, 2013.-
Mexico’s Lombardo Ontiveros and Juan Virgen have a shot of
breaking the all-time record of victories in a season ofthe
NORCECA BVB circuit, but first they must face William Montgomery
and James Drost of USA-B in one of Sunday’s semifinals.
The Mexican duo topped Pool A and Montgomery/Drost topped Pool
D. Ontiveros/Virgendefeated ESA-B of Carlos Escobar and David
Vargas 21-9, 21-8, while the Americans beat local B squad of
Julio Alvarez and Diego Alpizar 21-15, 21-12 in the
quarterfinals. In the other men’s semifinal, CAN-A meets USA-A.

USA duos and Costa Rica-A in women’s semifinals
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, November 23, 2013. -USA’s teams and home
girls of Costa Rica-Amade it into the women’s semifinals of the
tenth leg of the NORCECA circuit that concludes on Sunday at
Hatillo 7 venue. The first to make it into the semis were Traci Daley and Allison
Fleming of USA-B, who downed Mexican duo Martha Revuelta and
Bibiana Candelas 22-20 even in the quarterfinals, while Pool A
winners, USA-A Heather Hughes and Lane Carico beat Victoria
Altomare and Julie Gordon of CAN-B 2-0 (21-16, 21-10). Daley/Fleming meet winners of Pool B, CAN-A Kacie Mac Tavish and
Caleigh Whitaker who prevailed over Diana Romero and Marcela

Puerto Rico and Costa Rica start off with two victories
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, November 22, 2013. -The first day of
actions at the tenth leg of the 2013 NORCECA Circuit, saw Puerto
Rico and Costa Rica-A women’s duos with two victories at Hatillo
7 in Costa Rica. Dariam Acevedo and Vanessa Velez of Puerto Rico in Pool D won
21-12, 21-19 over Canada-B Victoria Altomare and Julie Gordon.
In their second outing they struggled to defeat CRC-C of
Katherine Quesada and Eugenia Ramirez by 2-1 (21-10, 14-21,
15-13). In Pool E, home girls Karen Cope and Natalia Alfaro of Costa
Rica-A dispatched Traci Daley and Allison Flemingof USA-B 2-0
(25-23, 21-17) and their compatriots siblingsPaola and BetzyCruz

Costa Rica NORCECA BVB first whistle blows on Friday
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, November 21, 2013. -Hosting for the first
time a NORCECA circuit stage, Costa Rica is prepared for
Friday’s first day of actions of the 2013 tenth leg at Hatillo 7
venue.
Pool play round is scheduled to take place on Friday and
Saturday, to define teams moving on for the single elimination
championship bracket. The semifinals and finals will take place
on Sunday to crown winners of the first Costa Rica stage.
The competition format and pool distribution were determined
during the general technical meeting by Arnaldo Sanchez,
director of the event. More

Costa Rica stage dedicated to Ingrid Morales
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, November 20, 2013 – The tenth stage of the
2013 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit in Costa Rica will be
dedicated to the iconic local player Ingrid Morales it was
announced in a press conference on Wednesday. “For the first time we are hosting one of the stages of the
NORCECA Circuit and what a better occasion than this one to
dedicate it to our Ingrid Morales, our best ever beach
volleyball player,” Jose Luis Jimenez Lao, President of Costa
Rican Volleyball Federation, said.

Ontiveros and Virgen going for the record
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, November 20, 2013 – Mexicans Lombardo
Ontiveros and Juan Virgen will be seeking for their record sixth
men’s gold medal of the year when the tenth stage of the 2013
NORCECA Circuit gets underway on Friday in Costa Rica.
Ontiveros and Virgen triumphed consecutively in Dominican
Republic and Guatemala before winning three in a row in Varadero
(Cuba) Mazatlan (Mexico) and Boqueron (Puerto Rico).
In Boqueron, the Mexican duo tied the all-time record of five
victories in a season set by Virgen himself playing with Aldo
Miramontes in the 2010 season.In the women’s division, USA’s Lane Carico will be going for her
fourth consecutive title and third straight with Heather Hughes. More
