Team USA Sweeps Cuba to Win NORCECA Gold
TULSA, United States (July 19, 2014)
– The U.S. Boys’ Youth National Team defeated Cuba, 25-23,
25-21, 25-20 on Saturday to win the NORCECA Boys’ Under-19
Continental Championship in front of a boisterous crowd at
the Cox Business Center. Team USA finished the tournament
with a record of 4-0 and went 12-0 in sets. Cuba finished
4-1. Both teams were already qualified for the 2015 FIVB
Boys’ U19 World Championship. U.S. outside hitter.

Grabs Bronze and Final Slot for Worlds
TULSA,

– Mexico grabbed the final slot for the 2015 FIVB World
Championship with a 22-25, 25-21, 27-25, 16-25, 15-6 win
over Puerto Rico on Saturday at the Cox Business
Center. Mexico finishes the tournament 4-2 and qualifies for
the 2015 U17 World Championships as one of the top three

Finishes Fifth with Victory over Guatemala

United States (July 18, 2014) – Nicaragua finished the
NORCECA Boys’ Under-19 Continental Championship in fifth
place with a 25-21, 25-18, 28-26 win over Guatemala on
Friday at the Cox Business Center. Nicaragua finishes the
tournament 1-3 while Guatemala is 1-4. Nicaragua Team
Captain Alejandro Gabriel called the victory important for

Mexico reaches semifinals of NORCECA U19
TULSA, United States, July 17, 2014 – Mexico qualified for the
semifinals of the NORCECA Boys’ Under-19 Continental
Championship on Thursday with a 25-18, 25-17, 25-22 win over
Nicaragua. Mexico will play in Friday’s semifinal, against either the
United States or Cuba. Nicaragua will play in Friday’s match for
fifth place. After losing a difficult five-set match to Cuba in pool play on

Cuba Qualifies for Semifinals
TULSA, United States, July 16, 2014 – Cuba got an
emotional victory over Mexico, 25-17, 19-25, 10-25, 25-17, 18-16
on Wednesday to qualify for the semifinals of the NORCECA Boys’
U19 Continental Championship at the Cox Business Center. With the victory, Cuba improved to 3-0 and will advance straight
to Friday’s semifinals. Mexico (2-1) will play in Thursday’s
quarterfinals against Nicaragua (0-2). After winning the first set, 25-17, Cuba’s mistakes started to
catch up with it and it fell in the next two sets before winning
the fourth. In the match, Mexico scored 41 points on Cuba errors
while committing 21. Cuba led in kills (52-40) and blocks (16-9)

Guatemala Reaches Quarterfinals with Win over Barbados

hard-fought battle against Barbados, 25-21, 18-25, 24-26, 26-24,

– Puerto Rico overcame a second-set challenge from Nicaragua
to defeat the Central American side, 25-14, 30-28, 25-18 on
Wednesday in a Pool A match at the NORCECA Boys’ U19
Continental Championship at the Cox Business Center
Arena. Puerto Rico (1-0) will face the United States (1-0)

– Barbados showed it can play with the top teams of the
