The four teams qualified by finishing among the top teams at the 2026 NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship, held September 11-16 at the same venue. Continental champion USA will not compete in the qualifier, having already secured its place at LA28 as the host nation of the Olympic Games.

Continental runner-up Canada will face fifth-place finisher Mexico in the first semifinal on Friday, September 18, at 4:30 p.m. In the second semifinal, bronze medalist Cuba will take on Dominican Republic, which finished fourth at the championship, at 7:00 p.m. Both matches are scheduled in Moncton local time.

The winners will advance to the final on Saturday, September 19, scheduled for 7:00 p.m., while the losing teams will compete for third place at 4:30 p.m. Only the tournament champion will qualify for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Canada will be seeking its seventh Olympic appearance in men’s volleyball and its fourth consecutive appearance, following Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. Its best result was a fourth-place finish at Los Angeles 1984.

Cuba will look to return to the Olympic Games for the first time since Rio 2016. The Caribbean team has made seven Olympic appearances and earned a bronze medal at Montreal 1976, its only Olympic podium finish in men’s volleyball.

Dominican Republic will aim to make history by qualifying for its first Olympic Games in men’s volleyball. Although its women’s team has competed in four editions of the Olympic Games, the men’s team has yet to make an appearance.

Mexico, meanwhile, is seeking its third Olympic appearance after competing at Mexico City 1968 and Rio 2016. Mexico finished tenth in 1968 and eleventh in 2016.
