Good governance and future growth in focus as FIVB Board of
Administration looks ahead to World Congress
LAUSANNE, Switzerland, October 14, 2026.- Guided by the FIVB
Strategic Vision 2032, the FIVB Board of Administration met to
advance key priorities for the Global Volleyball Movement,
focusing on strengthening good governance, improving regulations,
supporting National Federations and creating new opportunities
for the next generation of athletes.
The meeting opened with a review of activity since the previous
Board of Administration meeting, highlighting progress in youth
volleyball, Continental Championships and international
collaboration.
Cementing strong foundations for growth
The Board reviewed and ratified the finalised revisions to the
FIVB Constitution following extensive consultation with National
Federations and Continental Confederations.
The revisions aim to strengthen good governance, modernise the
regulatory framework, and support members in ensuring their
statutes and governance practices satisfy minimum good
governance requirements.
The final version of the Constitution will be shared with all
FIVB National Federations on 19 October before being presented
to the FIVB World Congress in November for final approval.
Regulation changes – International Transfers
The Board approved proposed changes to the Sports Regulations
relating to fees applicable to international transfers.
The changes aim to address stakeholder considerations related to
financial responsibilities, help ensure clubs are not subject to
duplicate charges and update the maximum Federation of Origin
solidarity fee chart in line with the revised fees.
These measures reflect the FIVB’s commitment to protecting
participation and ensuring that the regulations support athletes
and clubs.
Ethics Panel appointments
The Board approved the proposed composition of the Ethics Panel,
supporting the FIVB’s continued commitment to ethical standards,
accountability and good governance across the sport. These names
will be put to Congress in November for final approval.
Proposals from Commissions and Councils
The Board approved the rule changes to be brought to the
Congress for approval in November.
The proposals reflect ongoing efforts to evolve the sport,
improve competition and enhance the athlete experience.
Appointment of external auditors
The Board approved the appointment of the FIVB’s external
auditors, supporting the organisation’s commitment to
transparency, accountability and robust financial oversight.
The appointment, which will be brought to the FIVB World
Congress for approval, follows consideration of the importance
of periodically reviewing external audit arrangements and
ensuring relevant international sports-sector expertise.
Looking ahead
The next in-person meeting of the FIVB Board of Administration
will be on 18 November ahead of the 40th FIVB World Congress in
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic in November.
Through stronger governance, continued regulatory development
and investment in the next generation of athletes, the FIVB
continues to work alongside its National Federations and
Confederations to expand participation and strengthen volleyball
worldwide.
With Strategic Vision 2032 providing the roadmap, the Global
Volleyball Movement remains focused on its ambition to grow from
800 million to 1.6 billion people connected to the sport –
Together as One.
