Brayelin Martinez named MVP of Pan Am Cup

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 10, 2016 – Brayelin Martinez, who amassed 30 points in the victory of the Dominican Republic over Puerto Rico at the gold medal match of the XV Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup, was named the Most Valuable Player of the annual intercontinental competition. Martinez, who was also awarded as one of the outside hitters in the All-Star Team, was one of three Dominicans recognized during the closing ceremony on Sunday. More  Español

Hancock sets new mark, USA wins bronze medal

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 10, 2016 – The United States recovered from a slow start and stormed past Cuba 3-1 (20-25, 25-9, 25-15, 25-9) in the match for the bronze medal at the XV Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup on Sunday. Micha Hancock laced 12 aces to break her own Pan American Cup record of 11 service winners in a single match set earlier in the week against Costa Rica. She finished the tournament.

Argentina claims fifth place at Pan Am Cup

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 10, 2016 – Argentina swept Canada 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-23) in the match for fifth place at the XV Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup on Sunday. The two teams are qualified to next year’s World Grand Prix with the group to be determined. Emilce Sosa collected 10 points, including four blocks, to lead the South American side. SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 9, 2016 – The Dominican Republic advanced to the gold medal match against Puerto Rico after a straight-set 3-0 (25-11, 25-22, 25-21) victory over Cuba at the XV Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup on Saturday. The Dominicans, winners of the title in three occasions, will be playing their eleventh gold medal match while the Puerto Ricans will make their first attempt for the crown. Karina Ocasio leads Puerto Rico to the title match

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 9, 2016 – Karina Ocasio fired 25 points to lead Puerto Rico to a 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-17, 25-20) victory over the United States in the first semifinal match of the XV Women’s Pan American Cup in front of a full house at Ricardo Arias Gymnasium on Saturday. It will be the first visit of Puerto Rico to a title match in the history of the competition, having won two times the bronze medal. Peru finishes in ninth position

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 9, 2016 - Peru sailed past Trinidad & Tobago in straight sets 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-16) in a match for the ninth position at the XV Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup. Angela Leyva finished with 18 points, two blocks included, as the top scorer for the winners. Maguilaura Frias was next with 12 points. Krystle Esdelle notched 10 points as the main attacker for the Trinidadians.

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 9, 2016 - Argentina came back from one set down to defeat a tough Colombia 3-2 (25-18, 23-25, 21-25, 27-25, 15-8) in a qualification match for the 5-to-8 positions at the XV Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup.  Emilce Sosa had 20 points, including 7 blocks, and Tanya Acosta added 19 as the top scorers for the winners.  Colombia´s Kenny Moreno registered 26 in the losing cause and with her total of 152 surpassed the mark for most points. Puerto Rico earns spot against USA in semifinals

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 8, 2016 - Puerto Rico earned a semifinal ticket at the XV Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup after a convincing straight-set win 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-18) over Argentina on Friday night. The Puerto Ricans will meet the United States in the first semifinal of Saturday. Puerto Rico subdued their opponents in attacks 38-21, blocks 11-3 and service winners 5-3. SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 6, 2016 – Hosts Dominican Republic subdued Puerto Rico in straight sets 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-23) in a decisive match between undefeated teams in Pool A at the XV Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup in front of a full house at Ricardo Arias Gymnasium on Wednesday. A full house crowd of about 6,000 spectators watched the home team recover from a sluggish start in the first set and command the match the rest of the way. SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 5, 2016 – Peruvian Angela Leyva and Colombian Kenny Moreno became the ninth and tenth players in the history of the Women’s Pan American Cup to reach the 30-point plateau in a single game. Leyva recorded 32 in Peru’s 3-1 victory over Trinidad & Tobago while Moreno amassed 31 in the victory of Colombia over Mexico in five sets. Leyva tied Mexican Samantha Bricio for the third highest.

NORCECA donates equipment for Pan Am Cup in Santo Domingo

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, June 15, 2016 – The NORCECA Confederation has donated to the Organizing Committee of the XV Women’s Pan American Cup all the volleyball equipment to be used during the event to take place in Santo Domingo from June 30 to July 11. The volleyball goods which include Molten volleyballs, antennas, ball carts, manual scoreboards and court lines, were presented by NORCECA President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz to Major General Elvis Feliz Pérez. Santo Domingo to host 2016 Women’s Pan Am Cup

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, May 26, 2016 – The XV Women’s Pan American Cup, a qualifier to next year’s FIVB World Grand Prix, will take place in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, from July 2 to 10 with the participation of twelve countries. The Organizing Committee for the annual competition, presided over by Major General Elvis Marcelino Felix Perez, took the oath administered by Ramon Garcia, president of the Dominican Republic Volleyball Federation in a ceremony held at the Officials Club of the Dominican Air Force on Wednesday.  More  Español
