Weamer and Vanzwieten pocket gold medal in Punta Cana
PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, June 28, 2015 – USA team of
Traci Weamer and Kendra Vanzwieten won the women’s gold medal of
the Punta Cana Beach Volleyball Tournament with a
come-from-behind victory (17-21, 21-16, 16-11) over Cuba’s
Yanileydis Sanchez and Lidianny Echevarria on Sunday. “This is
my very last tournament and it is good to go out with a win,”

Cubans Piña and Quesada win men’ gold in Punta Cana
PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, June 28, 2015 – Cuba’s Karell
Piña and Daisel Quesada pulled a convincing 2-0 (21-16, 21-18)
victory against Canada’s Garrett May and Daniel Dearing in the
men’s gold medal match of the Punta Cana Beach Volleyball
Tournament, the second stop of the 2015 NORCECA Circuit. The
veteran Piña combined with the young Quesada to win their six
matches over the weekend –three in pool play and three in the
knock-out round.

USA, Canada and Cuba in women’s semis at Punta Cana
PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, June 27, 2015 – The women’s
semifinals of the Punta Cana Beach Volleyball Tournament
features an All-American contest and a surprising Cuba team
challenging the top Canada’s duo in the double-gender
competition. Traci Weamer and Kendra Vanzwietten, who won
Pool A, will play compatriots Emily Stockman and Allison
McColloch, winners of Pool D in Sunday’s semifinals.

Teams from four countries in men’s semifinals at Punta Cana
PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, June 27, 2015 –The men’s teams
of Canada, Cuba, Honduras and United States gained the
semifinals stage of the Punta Cana Beach Volleyball Tournament,
the second stop of the 2015 NORCECA Circuit.
Honduras’ pair of Mercuri Miller and Wilfredo Vega, second place
finishers in Pool A, outplayed Guatemala’s Julio Recinos and
Luis García.

Seven men’s teams score perfect records on Friday
PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, June 26, 2015 – Seven men’s
teams won their two matches in opening day of the Punta Cana
Beach Volleyball Tournament, the second leg of the 2015
NORCECA Circuit on Friday. Cuba and Honduras in Pool A,
Puerto Rico and Guatemala in Pool B, Canada in Pool C and
United States and Costa Rica in Pool D are the undefeated
duos as the qualification process kicked off under a
sizzling sun in the eastern part of the Dominican Republic.

Jamaica, Canada and USA stand out among women
PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, June 26, 2015 – Jamaica joined
the two teams each of Canada and United States as the undefeated
women’s tandems after day one of the Punta Cana Beach Volleyball
Tournament, the second leg of the 2015 NORCECA Circuit.
Playing in Pool B, Jamaicans Danielle Perry and Sashalee Wallen
were successful in their two outings on Friday against Antigua’s
Mali Peters and Rosemarie Simon (21-17, 21-13) and Dominican
Republic’s Jennifer Batista and Raquel Ferrand (21-11, 21-14).

Frank Rainieri made ceremonial first serve
PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, June 26, 2015 – Frank
Rainieri, one of the pioneers in today’s Dominican Republic
tourism industry, made the ceremonial first serve at the
opening ceremony of the Punta Cana Beach Volleyball
Tournament, the second stop of the 2015 NORCECA Circuit.
Rainieri, president of Punta Cana Beach Resort and member of
several environment and charities foundations in the eastern
part of the Dominican Republic, also received a plaque
presented by the Dominican Volleyball Federation.
