Tatiana Sayles of Costa Rica Named MVP of the Central American Games  

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, October 21, 2025.– Costa Rica’s Tatiana Sayles was honored as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the women’s volleyball tournament at the 12th Central American Games Guatemala 2025, held from October 17 to 21 at Teodoro Palacios Flores Gymnasium. Sayles’ all-around performance and consistent offensive strength were key to Costa Rica’s success throughout the competition and winning their ninth Central American Games title. Sayles also received the Second Best Spiker award. Guatemala’s María Santa Cruz earned First Best Spiker, while Panama’s Sofía Centella and El Salvador’s Evelyn Ramírez were named First and Second Best Blockers, respectively. Costa Rica Wins Ninth Central American Games Gold Medal

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, October 21, 2025.– Costa Rica captured its ninth Central American Games gold medal after defeating Nicaragua in straight sets (25-20, 25-20, 25-19) in the women’s volleyball final of the 12th Central American Games Guatemala 2025.

With this victory, Costa Rica extends its record as the most successful team in the history of the Games, claiming its fifth consecutive gold medal. In total, Costa Rica now owns 11 medals in the event’s history: nine gold, one silver, and one bronze. Nicaragua, meanwhile, earned its fifth silver medal, bringing its total to eight, including three bronze. The opening set was evenly matched at 9 points apiece before Costa Rica pulled ahead 15-11, led by Tatiana Sayles’ powerful attacks against the Nicaraguan block of María Belén Arcia, combined with defensive errors and strong serves from María Fernanda Alfaro.  More Español

Belize Earns Its First-Ever Historic Medal at the Central American Games

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, October 21, 2025.– Belize wrote a golden chapter in its sporting history by capturing its first-ever medal at the Central American Games, defeating Guatemala 3-1 (25-13, 25-19, 14-25, 25-21) in the women’s volleyball bronze medal match of the 12th Central American Games Guatemala 2025. Belize closed its outstanding campaign with a 4-1 record to claim third place, while Guatemala finished fourth with a 2-3 record. The two teams had already met in pool play, where Belize also prevailed, but in five sets. In the first set, Belize quickly took control with a 13-8 lead, extending it to 20-12 behind a strong offensive led by Herdie Castillo, capitalizing on Guatemala’s errors. Nicaragua Goes for the Gold at the 2025 Central American Games

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, October 20, 2025.– Nicaragua will play for the gold medal of the 12th Central American Games Guatemala 2025 against Costa Rica, after defeating Belize 3-1 (25-19, 25-14, 22-25, 25-18) in the women’s volleyball semifinals.

The final will be a rematch of the 2017 Central American Games, when Costa Rica triumphed over Nicaragua in five sets. Guatemala Advances to Semifinals with Dramatic Five-Set Win over Honduras

Belize Advances to Central American Games Semifinals for the First Time in History

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, October 19, 2025.– Belize made history after defeating Panama 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-18) in the women’s volleyball tournament of the 12th Central American Games Guatemala 2025, advancing for the first time ever to the semifinals of the regional event. Belize finished pool-play undefeated (3-0) and on top of Pool B, securing their spot in the semifinals, where they will face Nicaragua, second place in Pool A, on Monday. Panama (0-3) will play for 6th/7th place on the final day of competition. Team Belize not only achieved their first-ever qualification to the semifinals in the history of the Central American Games, but did so as pool leaders, maintaining a perfect record through the preliminary round. Nicaragua Advances to the Semifinals of the Central American Games

With a 2-1 record, Nicaragua finished second in Pool A and will play the semifinals against the first-place team from Pool B. Meanwhile, El Salvador (1-2) finished third in the pool and will compete for positions 5/7 against the third-place team from Pool B. Nicaragua started strong, taking the first set thanks to the offensive effectiveness of Josafet Díaz, who led the scoring, and capitalizing on 11 errors made by El Salvador. Belize Remains Undefeated with Five-Set Victory over Guatemala
