Julián Araya and Jhostin Varela of Costa Rica, New Central American
Games Champions
JALAPA,
Guatemala, October 28, 2025. – Costa Ricans Julián Araya and Jhostin
Varela were crowned the new men’s beach volleyball champions of the
XII Central American Games Guatemala 2025, after an exciting
comeback victory over Nicaragua’s Rubén Mora and Dany López by 2-1
(17-21, 21-17, 15-13) at the Jalapa Sports Complex. This is Costa
Rica’s second-ever gold medal in men’s beach volleyball at the
Central American Games, in addition to one bronze medal. Nicaragua,
on the other hand, claimed its first-ever silver medal in this
discipline, adding to its two previous golds.

Marcela Araya/Eugenia Ramírez of Costa Rica Impeccable, Win the
Central American Games
JALAPA,
Guatemala, October 28, 2025. –Marcela Araya and Eugenia Ramírez of
Costa Rica were flawless throughout the women’s beach volleyball
tournament at the XII Central American Games Guatemala 2025,
remaining undefeated and not dropping a single set on their way to
the gold medal. The Costa Rican duo claimed the championship title
after defeating Nicaragua’s López/Lolette in the final 2-0 (21-16,
21-12) at the Jalapa Sports Complex. This marks Costa Rica’s third
consecutive gold medal in the history of the Central American Games,
along with a previous silver medal. Nicaragua, on the other hand,
earned their second silver and also have a bronze in their record.

Men’s Semifinals Set at the Central American Games: Costa Rica &
Guatemala and El Salvador & Nicaragua
JALAPA, Guatemala, October 27, 2025.– The men’s beach volleyball
semifinals of the XII Central American Games Guatemala 2025 will
take place this Tuesday at the Jalapa Sports Complex, featuring
matchups between Costa Rica and Guatemala, and El Salvador and
Nicaragua. The first semifinal is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., with
Julián Araya and Jhostin Varela of Costa Rica taking on Edgar
Maldonado and José Izaguirre of Guatemala. Then, twin brothers
Christopher and Yoel Guardado of El Salvador will meet the defending
champions, Rubén Mora and Dany López of Nicaragua.

standings. With a perfect 5-0 record, Varela/Araya lead the overall
rankings, followed by Nicaragua’s Rubén Mora and Dany López (4-1),
the defending champions, and El Salvador’s Christopher and Yoel
Guardado, also with a 4-1 mark.

Games
JALAPA, Guatemala, October 26, 2025.– The Costa Rican duo of Eugenia
Ramírez and Marcela Araya claimed first place in the women’s beach
volleyball standings at the 12th Central American Games Guatemala
2025, taking place at the Jalapa Sports Complex. After the
penultimate day of preliminary round action, Ramírez/Araya lead the
competition with a perfect 5-0 record, followed by Guatemala’s Paola
Alvarado and Laura Quiñónez at 4-1, the same record as Nicaragua’s
Socorro López and Lolette Rodríguez, who stand in third place.

Costa Ricans are currently the only undefeated team in the
competition. Varela and Araya earned their third victory after
defeating defending champions Rubén Mora and Dany López of Nicaragua
in a thrilling match 2-1 (26-24, 22-24, 15-11) and later secured
another win over El Salvador’s Christopher and Yoel Guardado by 2-0
after the Salvadoran duo was unable to appear on court due to
injury.

López/Rodríguez from Nicaragua Remain Undefeated with 4-0 Record at
the Central American Games
JALAPA, Guatemala, October 25, 2025. – Nicaragua’s duo Socorro López
and Lolette Rodríguez remain unstoppable in the women’s beach
volleyball tournament at the 12th Central American Games Guatemala
2025, earning two more victories on Saturday to maintain a perfect
4-0 record at the Jalapa Sports Complex. With their consistent
performance, López and Rodríguez sit undefeated at the top of the
standings. Also remaining unbeaten are Costa Rica’s Marcela Araya
and Eugenia Ramírez (3-0) and the host team Paola Alvarado and Laura
Quiñónez from Guatemala (3-0). According to the competition format,
the first-place team in the preliminary round advances directly to
the semifinals, while the other six teams will play a qualification
round to determine the remaining three semifinalists.

Volleyball with Two Victories

and Dany López of Nicaragua, along with the twin duo Christopher and
Yoel Guardado of El Salvador, started strong in the men’s beach
volleyball tournament of the 12th Central American Games Guatemala
2025, each earning two victories on opening day at the Jalapa Sports
Complex. he Nicaraguan pair Mora/López, defending champions, showed
their class by dominating José González and Jason Quintero of Panama
2-0 (21-16, 21-14). In their second match of the day, the
Nicaraguans once again set the pace with a solid 2-0 (21-11, 21-13)
win over Irvin Reyes and Manuel Serrano of Honduras, who earlier had
fallen to El Salvador.

day, defeating Clara Sabal and Aliyan Pilgrim of Belize with
authority 2-0 (21-11, 21-7), highlighting complete control in the
second set with a six-point scoring streak.In their second match,
the Costa Rican duo maintained the same level of intensity,
comfortably defeating Ingrid Lezcano and Krisleen González of Panama
2-0 (21-10, 21-15), who were coming off a loss to Nicaragua.

Nicaragua Seeks Third Consecutive Men’s Beach Volleyball Title at
the Central American Games
JALAPA, Guatemala, October 23, 2025.– Nicaragua will aim to capture
its third title in the men’s beach volleyball tournament of the 12th
Central American Games Guatemala 2025. The duo of Rubén Mora and
Dany López will look to defend their crown and maintain Nicaragua’s
dominance in this discipline. Nicaragua is the reigning men’s
champion, thanks to Mora and López’s victory in the previous edition
of the Games held on home soil, where they defeated Guatemala’s Andy
Leonardo and Luis García. On that occasion, they successfully
defended the title previously won by Henry Hernández and Gerald
Umaña in Costa Rica 2013. With extensive experience and a

Costa Rica To Defend Women’s Beach Volleyball Title at the Central
American Games
JALAPA, Guatemala, October 23, 2025.– Costa Rica will seek to defend
its title in the women’s beach volleyball tournament at the 12th
Central American Games Guatemala 2025, to be held from October 24 to
28 at the Jalapa Sports Complex. In the women’s category, Costa Rica
holds the title thanks to the duo of Karen Cope and Natalia Alfaro,
champions in Managua 2017 after defeating Kathya Vásquez and María
Fernanda Vargas of El Salvador. For Alfaro, that gold marked her
second consecutive title, having previously won alongside Ingrid
Morales in Costa Rica 2013. Historically, Costa Rica and El Salvador
have dominated the event since the discipline was introduced to the
Central American Games.
