Hendrix Lepp Leads Individual Awardees at U19 NORCECA Boys’ Championship

BURNABY, Canada, May 17, 2026.- Canada’s Hendrix Lepp headlined the list of individual award winners at the U19 NORCECA Boys’ Continental Volleyball Championship, which concluded on Sunday at the West Gym of Simon Fraser University (SFU). Lepp, a 16-year-old outside hitter from Vancouver, British Columbia, was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) after guiding Canada to the gold medal. He also earned the honor of Best Spiker. Mexico’s Francisco Merino delivered an outstanding performance throughout the tournament, claiming three awards: Second Best Spiker, Best Server and Best Scorer. More  Español

Canada wins U19 gold after a five-set battle

BURNABY, Canada. May 17, 2026: Canada won a hard-fought gold medal against its North American rivals, USA, today at the U19 NORCECA Boys’ Continental Volleyball Championship in Burnaby, British Columbia. USA fought hard to keep its winning record at this tournament, but in the end, Canada prevailed 2-3 (23-25, 25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 15-17) for gold and USA takes home silver. Head coach Adam Schriemer of Canada credited his team and its captain for keeping calm under pressure today: “I’m super happy for our guys. We got better as the tournament went on. We didn’t have a lot of time to prepare for this tournament so we had to improve during the event – it was a good progression of focusing on ourselves throughout the preliminaries, and then as we got into the playoffs we started focusing more on the points.  More  Español

Mexico wins the U19 boys' bronze medal

BURNABY, Canada. May 17, 2026: Mexico beat Costa Rica 3-0 (25-8, 25-12, 25-15) today at the U19 NORCECA Boys’ Continental Volleyball Championship at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Burnaby, British Columbia. Mexico wins bronze and Costa Rica finishes fourth overall. The top four teams from this tournament qualified for the U19 World Championships, to be held in 2027. More  Español

Barbados wins five-set match for seventh

BURNABY, Canada. May 17, 2026: Barbados finishes seventh overall at the U19 NORCECA Boys’ Continental Volleyball Championship in Burnaby, British Columbia. After losing the first set in today’s classification match with Dominican Republic, Barbados switched the momentum winning the next two sets with the Dominican team forcing a fifth. More  Español

USA battles to advance to final

BURNABY, Canada. May 16, 2026: USA will play in the gold-medal match after a semifinal win over Mexico today at the U19 NORCECA Boys’ Continental Volleyball Championship at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Burnaby, British Columbia. With visiting fans from both sides in the stands, the teams battled to the last point, but USA managed the sweep 3-0 (25-17, 27-25, 25-23) over its North American southern neighbors. Daniel Hornyak, outside hitter for USA, was top scorer of the match with 23 points (19 kills, 2 blocks and 2 aces). Francisco Sebastian Merino Romero led Mexico with 16 points. More  Español

Puerto Rico’s young squad sweeps Barbados

BURNABY, Canada, May 16, 2026: Puerto Rico will have the opportunity to play for fifth place in the U19 NORCECA Boys’ Continental Volleyball Championship, held in Burnaby, British Columbia.  On Saturday, Puerto Rico swept Barbados 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-13) leading in attack points (48-32), aces (4-2) and making fewer errors (15-21). Panama beats Dominican Republic at U19s

BURNABY, Canada, May 16, 2026:  Classification matches began on Saturday at U19 NORCECA Boys’ Continental Volleyball Championship at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. In the first match of the day, Dominican Republic fell to Panama. The score was Dominican Republic 1 Panama 3 (15-25, 25-23, 17-25, 18-25). Panama now has a chance to play for fifth place in the tournament. Dominican Republic will play for positions 7 or 8 on Sunday. More  Español

Mexico heading to U19 World Championship

BURNABY, Canada, May 15, 2026:  Mexico swept Puerto Rico in their quarterfinal match on Friday at U19 NORCECA Boys’ Continental Volleyball Championship at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. The final score was 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-21) with Puerto Rico putting on pressure until the last point, but Mexico’s offense (57-37 attack points), blocking (7-3) and 3 aces were too much for the Puerto Ricans too handle. Puerto Rico, however, did gain more points from its opponent’s errors (19-12). Mexico’s Head Coach Jose Eduardo Millan Lanz was proud of his team’s effort today: “We are very happy with the great result. It was a very important match for us. There was no tomorrow; there wasn’t going to be another opportunity. The players came out with a lot of character and determination, very disciplined tactically. It wasn’t easy to defeat Puerto Rico. We are very happy to have qualified for the World Championship.” More  Español

Costa Rica advances to U19 semis

BURNABY, Canada, May 15, 2026: Momentum switched several times in today’s quarterfinal between Panama and Costa Rica at the U19 NORCECA Boys’ Continental Volleyball Championship in Burnaby, British Columbia.Eventually, Panama fell to Costa Rica 2-3 (22-25, 25-19, 11-25, 25-15, 7-15). The result means that Costa Rica advances to the semifinals on Saturday and gains a World Championship berth. Canada fights for semifinal spot

BURNABY, Canada, May 14, 2026: Canada survived the first five-set match of the tournament to advance to the semifinals of the U19 NORCECA Boys’ Continental Volleyball Championship in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Canada won 3-2 (18-25, 25-21,25-20, 25-27,15-13) over a skilled Mexican squad bolstered by a 36-point performance by Francisco Sebastian Merino Romero. Canadian captain Hendrix Lepp helped the winning side with 30 points, and teammate Justin Jamieson added 23 points. Canada led in attack points (70-59) and blocks (11-8), but Mexico led in aces (10-2) with 6 from Romero alone.  More  Español

Costa Rica earns first win in pool play

BURNABY, Canada, May 14, 2026: Costa Rica won its final pool match today at the U19 NORCECA Boys’ Continental Volleyball Championship Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Costa Rica defeated Barbados 3-0 (25-21, 28-26, 25-14) for the team’s first win of the tournament. Blocking was a difference-maker for Costa Rica with 14 successful blocks compared with 6 for Barbados. The winning team also scored more attack points (37-32) than its opponent and more aces (5-2). Costa Rica’s Felipe Bolaños Alvarado topped the scoresheet with 19 points (17 kills, 2 blocks). Piere Gill led Barbados' scoring effort with 10 points. More Español

USA advances to semis at U19 Championship

BURNABY, Canada, May 14, 2026:  USA maintains a perfect record in pool play at the U19 NORCECA Boys’ Continental Volleyball Championship at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. USA advances directly to the semifinals, held on Saturday, after beating Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-15) in Group B today. Puerto Rico put on a good fight, especially in the second set, but USA had the advantage in attack points (35-26), blocking (12-2) and aces (5-0). Puerto Rico made a few more errors (23-20). “The first goal when we got here was to qualify (for the World Championship), then play for a medal and hope it’s a gold medal. Most importantly, our team is playing better and better with each match,” said USA Head Coach Andy Read. More Español

BURNABY, Canada, May 14, 2026:  The U19 NORCECA Boys’ Continental Volleyball Championship at Simon Fraser University (SFU) is on its third and final day of pool play in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.In Group B, Panama swept Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-21, 25-11, 25-14) in the first match of Thursday’s program.Panama’s Head Coach Alexis Bernal was again impressed with his young squad’s performance: “It was an intense match. Canada on track in U19 pool play

BURNABY, Canada, May 13, 2026:  Canada recorded another 3-0 win today at the NORCECA U19 Boys’ Continental Championship in Burnaby, British Columbia. It was a 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-15) sweep over Costa Rica in Group A pool play.  Although Canada made more errors 22-14, they bested Costa Rica in attack points (45-22), blocks (7-1) and aces (9-3). Canada Head Coach Adam Schriemer explained: “One of things we talk about is that we have got to continue to get better over this tournament, so we did a lot of video on ourselves yesterday on some general system things that we can improve on, and I think that showed today.  I think our block defense organization and our dig-to-transition kill really upgraded today, so that was good to see. Also there were some great performances by a lot of the guys. … We have a lot of different combinations and a lot of talent, and we just need to figure out what combination works for us as we progress to the important matches.” More Español

Mexico earns second win at U19 Championship

BURNABY, Canada, May 13, 2026:  Mexico has another win at the U19 Boys’ Continental Championship in Burnaby, British Columbia. On Tuesday, Mexico defeated Barbados 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-12) in front of a lively crowd at the Simon Fraser University West Gym. Attack points favored Mexico 35-19, as well blocks 7-5 and the North American team dominated from the service line with 12 aces opposed to just 1 from Barbados. This brings Mexico’s record in Group A to 2-0 so far, while Barbados has yet to pick up a win (0-2). Outside hitter Francisco Sebastián Merino Romero contributed 21 points to the winning effort. USA now 2-0 at U19 Championship

BURNABY, Canada, May 13, 2026:  USA swept its second pool play opponent today at the U19 NORCECA Boys’ Continental Volleyball Championship at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. The United States beat Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-17, 25-7, 25-8) in Group B action.

Other than being close in errors, 19-18, USA dominated this match in attack points (36-13), blocks (8-1) and shutout Dominican Republic in aces 12-0.

Cameron Kosolcharoen and Matthew Kravtsov each had 11 points for the winning side. USA Head Coach Andy Read: “The team we are playing is just us – playing USA volleyball. From top to bottom, all 14 players played how we wanted to play today against a good opponent. We played really well, very efficiently and I’m proud of the whole team. … When we play how we want to play, it’s really good volleyball and I look forward to watching them. More Español

Panama earns first win at U19 event

BURNABY, Canada, May 13, 2026: In the most closely contested match of pool play so far, Panama beat Puerto Rico today at the U19 Boys’ Continental Championship in Burnaby, British Columbia. The final score was 3-1 (25-12, 28-25, 20-25, 25-17). Panama recovered from its loss to powerful USA yesterday and now has a 1-1 record in Group B. The top four teams from this tournament will earn berths to the 2027 World Championships. In today’s match, Panama led in attack points 55-49 and blocks (6-4) and aces were even at 4. Errors were high on both sides 32-33 – one point in favor of Panama. More Español

Host Canada sweeps Barbados at U19 Championship

BURNABY, Canada, May 12, 2026: After shaking off some first-match jitters, Canada beat Barbados today in the group stage of the U19 Boys’ Continental Championship, held at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. In their first Group A match of the tournament, Canada swept its opponent 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-20) in front of a supportive home crowd. Canada led in attack points (38-20), blocks (7-2), aces (9-0), but made more errors (30-21). Canadian outside hitter Julian Josephs topped scoring with 11 points, teammates Hendrix Lepp and Justin Jamieson scored 10 apiece. BURNABY, Canada, May 12, 2026: Mexico is off to a good start in Group A action at the NORCECA U19 Boys’ Continental Championship, held at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Today the North Americans beat Costa Rica 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-14) in both team’s opening match. Mexico held the advantage in all skills, except for making more errors (23-14). It was 46-21 in attack points, 9-7 in blocks, and 6-1 in ace serves in favor of Team Mexico. BURNABY, Canada, May 12, 2026: Sealed with an ace at match point, Puerto Rico won its opening match of the U19 Boys’ Continental Championship today at Simon Fraser University’s West Gym in British Columbia, Canada. In Group B play, Puerto Rico beat Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-17), overwhelming its opponent in attack points (41-23), blocks (5-1) and aces (10-2).  Puerto Rico, however, did give up more points to errors (25-29).

Outside hitter Gustavo Alejandro Guadalupe led all scoring with 12 points, which included 4 aces. Opposite Darlin Alfredo Garcia was top scorer for the Dominican Republic with 8 points.  More Español
