SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, May 9, 2010 – Corozal defeated Toa Baja 3-1 (18-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-21 to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven final series of Puerto Rican Women’s Superior League.

 

American Destinee Hooker recorded 39 points to lead the winners while her compatriot Shonda Cole added 21 including five blocks. Puerto Rican Vanessa Velez chipped in 9 points.

Corozal hit first in Puerto Rican Women’s Finals
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, May 7, 2010 – Corozal came from behind and out dueled defending champions Toa Baja in five sets (19-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-19, 16-14) to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven final series of the Puerto Rican Women’s Superior League.

American Destinee Hooker recorded an astonishing 43 points and Shonda Cole added 21 in leading the offense of the 16-time champions in the history of the league. The winners scored with 15 blocks and recorded five serving aces. Spike by Hooker broke a 14-all evened score in the tie-breaker and Cole sealed the victory by landing another kill.
