Sebastiano Sani MVP at U21 Men’s Pan Am Cup

August 10, 2025: USA gold medal player and captain Sebastiano Sani was named MVP of the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Below is a full list of individual award winners. In addition to the award certificate, winners were presented with white hats, which are a traditional symbol of the city of Calgary’s hospitality and welcoming spirit. USA golden at U21 Pan Am Cup

Calgary, Aug. 10, 2025:  The United States won gold over Team Canada today at the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada. USA won 3-1 (26-24, 25-21, 22-25, 25-18) in front of a crowd cheering for their young Canadian squad, who pick up a silver medal. In the final today, attack points were equal at 44 and blocks favored USA 11-7. Canada had one more ace than USA (3-2) but made more errors (41-34). Head coach of Team USA, John Hawks, commented: “Today’s match was a bit ugly, from the service line both teams missed a lot of serves, and there were other battles … But this is why we came here – It was great preparation for us before the Worlds. Playing in front of a great crowd, playing a great team and I think the best team won today. We played consistent all tournament and made a lot of progress. The confidence is there and we’re ready to go to China (for the Worlds)." More  Español

Chile in third place at U21 Pan Am Cup

Calgary, Aug. 10, 2025:  Chile won the bronze-medal match today at the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Chile defeated Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-14). Chile was more effective on attack (39-33 points), blocks (14-7), and aces (2-1). Chile also made fewer errors (20-14). Felipe Emilio Rodríguez (13 kills) and Joaquin Alejandro Valjalo (11 kills, 2 blocks) each contributed 13 points to the winning side. More Español

Mexico secures 5th place at U21 Pan Am Cup

Calgary, Aug. 10, 2025:  After beating Barbados 3-0 today, Mexico finishes in fifth place in the standings of the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada. After a very close first set that went into extra points, Mexico settled in to take the match 3-0 (31-29, 25-16, 25-17). More Español

Canada advances to U21 Pan Am Cup final

Calgary, Aug. 09, 2025:  Canada will have the opportunity to go for gold in front of a home crowd after a win today at the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  Canada defeated Mexico 3-0 (28-26, 25-19, 25-19) today and will play USA in the gold-medal match on Sunday. Today against Mexico, Canada led in attack points (52-17), blocks (9-5) and aces (4-3). However, Canada gave up more points due to errors (39-13), Daniil Hershtynovich of Canada led all scorers with 20 points (17 kills, 2 blocks and an ace). He was followed by teammates Luke Lodewyks and Alexander Brdarevic who had 10 points each on the score sheet. Jonathan Joel Hernández and Brandon Antonio Ramirez led Mexico with seven points each. USA to play for gold at U21 Pan Am Cup

Calgary, Aug. 09, 2025:  The United States defeated Puerto Rico and will play for the title of the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  It was a 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-18) sweep. USA led in attack points (38-26), blocks (7-3), and aces (5-4). USA also earned more points from errors (25-22). Calgary, Aug. 09, 2025:  Chile earned a third win today at the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Canada’s U21 men sweep Chile

Calgary, Aug. 08, 2025:  Canada was successful in front of its home crowd today at the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The host team beat Chile 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-21); leading in attack points (44-26) and aces (4-3). Blocks we equal at six. Canada made more errors with 29 compared with Chile’s 21.NLuke Lodewyks and Owen Weekes each scored 13 points for Canada. USA continues its winning streak at the U21 Pan Am Cup

Calgary, Aug. 08, 2025:  USA recorded its fourth straight win at the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Today, USA beat Mexico 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 26-24) A determined Mexico put the pressure on in the third set, leading by up to five points for much of the set. However, USA came back to even it up at 24 points and then completed the sweep. The United States led in attack points (50-32) and blocks (8-4), but Mexico had one more ace than its opponent (3-2). Puerto Rico holds off Barbados at U21 Pan Am Cup

Calgary, Aug. 08, 2025:  Puerto Rico held off a late challenge from Barbados to win its second match of the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The final score was Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-23) over Barbados. Puerto Rico led in attack points (44-32), and aces (7-2).  Barbados was effective in their block with seven compared with four points for Puerto Rico.  Barbados made more errors (20-16).  Puerto Rican middle blocker Eliel David Salva led scoring with 16 points (14 attack points, a block and an ace). Outside hitter Nkoya Williams-Bailey and opposite Isaiah Francis, both of Barbados, were next on the score sheet with 11 points apiece.  More

Calgary, Aug. 07, 2025:  Chile earned its second consecutive win at the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  Today Puerto Rico could not maintain its early momentum, falling 1-3 (25-21, 16-25, 24-26, 22-25) to Chile.  Chile led in attack points (52-40), blocks were even at nine and Puerto Rico had the advance in aces (7-5). Canada pushes back against Puerto Rico

Calgary, Aug. 06, 2025:  Canada beat Puerto Rico on the second day of the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Puerto Rico put on pressure in the last two sets, but Canada recovered to win 3-1 (25-16, 25-21, 23-25, 25-23).Opposite Luke Lodewyks of Canada led all scoring with 21 points (17 kills, 1 block and 3 aces), followed by teammate Daniil Hershtynovich with 20 (15 kills, 1 block and 4 aces).“It was great, Puerto Rico has a really strong team, and we were happy to close out that fourth set,” said Canada’s head coach Chris Voth. “All of these teams are good teams, and I think USA is a strong team and we are really going to have to play well if we are going to be competitive in that match (tomorrow). But all these teams have their strengths, so we’re going to have to continue to grow and keep being consistent.” More Español

Chile beats Mexico for first win at U21 tournament

Calgary, Aug. 06, 2025: Chile earned its first win of the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The Chilean team swept Mexico 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-18).Chile led in attack points, (49-34), blocks (9-7) and aces (2-0). Errors were even at 15. Alvaro Del Campo Guzmán, Chile’s head coach, said after today’s win: "We are very happy with the game and with how the team approached the match after a tough loss against the United States. We knew today was a new match, a new opportunity to improve. The team did very well. We’re happy and we’re going to enjoy the win. Tomorrow will be a new match to try to play even better than today."Opposite Joaquin Alejandro Valjalo of Chile scored a match-high 25 points (23 kills & 2 blocks).  More Español

USA over Barbados at U21 Pan Am Cup

Calgary, Aug. 06, 2025: USA managed a 3-0 win over Barbados today at 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  The score was 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-14). The match seemed one-sided in favor of USA, until Barbados put on a fight in the second set keeping the contest very tight until the last point. However, the Americans regrouped to dominate the third and final set. John Hawks, USA’s U21 Head Coach, commented: “Congrats to Barbados for giving us that challenge – they are in the tournament, they’re having fun and starting to compete a bit. It was good for our guys to get a little uncomfortable and battle through those situations. We have some guys that are vying to get on to the U21 (Worlds) team and improve themselves. Canada sweeps Barbados at home

Calgary, Canada, Aug. 05, 2025:  Canada impressed its home audience today as the team beat Barbados 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-19) at the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Canada dominated in attack points (41-14) and also led in blocks (3-1) and aces (10-2). Errors were in favor of Barbados (30-21). Canada’s Owen Harris led scoring with 12 points, including five from ace serves. Teammate Dawson Pratt followed with 10 points. Isaiah Francis of Barbados was his team’s top scorer with 8 points. Calgary, Canada, Aug. 05, 2025:  USA swept Chile 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-15) today at the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta. It was the opening match for both teams in the six-team tournament. USA led in attack points (33-23) and dominated in blocking (12-1) and aces (10-1). USA made one less error than Chile (20-19).

Outside hitter Sebastiano Sani of the U.S. led scoring with 12 points ( 6 kills, 4 blocks and 2 aces). Joaquin Alejandro Valjalo and Felipe Emilio Rodríguez led Team Chile with 8 points each. More Español

Puerto Rico beats Mexico in U21 opener  

Calgary, Canada, Aug. 05, 2025:  Puerto Rico won the opening match of the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre in Calgary, Alberta, from August 5 to 10. In a closely matched contest that was decided in the tie-break set, Puerto Rico defeated Mexico 3-2 (25-22, 19-25, 25-19, 19-25, 15-10). Puerto Rico led in attack points (51-48), blocks (15-10), and aces (5-4).  Mexico did, however, make fewer errors (32-39). Puerto Rico’s opposite Dylan Velazquez led all scoring with 25 points (23 kills, 2 blocks). Brandon Antonio Ramirez led Mexico’s efforts with 20 points (16 kills, 3 blocks, and an ace).
