Diego Rondón Named MVP of the Boys’ U17 Pan American Cup

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, August 9, 2026.- Diego Rondón of Venezuela was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2026 Boys’ U17 Pan American Cup, held from August 4 to 9 in Guatemala. Rondón’s leadership and consistency were instrumental in Venezuela finishing the tournament undefeated and claiming the championship. He was also recognized as Best Opposite, reflecting his contribution to the South American team’s success.  Venezuela earned three additional awards. Venezuela Crowned Boys’ U17 Pan American Cup Champion

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, August 9, 2026.- Venezuela was crowned champion of the second Boys’ U17 Pan American Cup after defeating Canada 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-19) in the final at the Domo Polideportivo in Guatemala City. Venezuela came out strong and built a 19-12 lead in the first set. Canada regrouped and managed to cut the deficit down the stretch, but the comeback fell short as the South Americans took the set 25-22. Venezuela remained ahead on the scoreboard for the rest of the match. Canada battled to stay close, but Venezuela’s defense, along with the difference in serving and unforced errors, proved decisive as the South Americans closed out the match in straight sets.  More  Español

U17 Pan American Cup Bronze Goes to the United States

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, August 9, 2026.- The United States captured the bronze medal at the Boys’ U17 Pan American Cup after defeating Mexico 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-19) at the tournament being held at the Domo Polideportivo in Guatemala City. All three sets were closely contested. The United States strengthened its blocking, which allowed them to counter Mexico’s attack. It was in the first set that the Americans managed to build a wider lead and take control on their way to victory. Puerto Rico Defeats Costa Rica and Finishes Fifth at the U17 Pan American Cup

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, August 9, 2026.- Puerto Rico defeated Costa Rica 3-1 (25-20, 19-25, 25-11, 25-18) to finish in fifth place at the Boys’ U17 Pan American Cup, at the Domo Polideportivo in Guatemala City. Puerto Rico won the first set thanks to good coordination at the net. The match remained quite even until point 17, when Puerto Rico managed to pull away and take the lead in the match. Costa Rica took control of the second set from the start, and Puerto Rico was never able to challenge the Central Americans, who tied the match.
