SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, May 7, 2010 – Corozal came from behind and out dueled defending champions Toa Baja in five sets (19-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-19, 16-14) to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven final series of the Puerto Rican Women’s Superior League.

American Destinee Hooker recorded an astonishing 43 points and Shonda Cole added 21 in leading the offense of the 16-time champions in the history of the league. The winners scored with 15 blocks and recorded five serving aces. Spike by Hooker broke a 14-all evened score in the tie-breaker and Cole sealed the victory by landing another kill.

Puerto Rico wins bronze medal and ticket to Turkey
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, May 2, 2010 – Puerto Rico out matched Dominican Republic in straight sets (25-20, 25-16, 25-21) to win the bronze medal at NORCECA Girls’ Youth Volleyball Championship and the remaining continental’s berth to the 2011 FIVB World Championship for players under 18 years-old.
