Cuba’s Uriarte earns MVP honors
TIJUANA, Mexico, July 7, 2012 - Osmany Uriarte of Cuba, the best
scorer and best server of the NORCECA Boys’ U-19 Continental
Championship, also took home the honors as Most Valuable Player
of the competition.
Cuban players locked all but one of the individual awards
presented during the closing ceremonies on Saturday.

Cuba win gold with victory over Mexico in three sets

TIJUANA, Mexico, July 7 2012.— Nicaragua recovered from a two
sets deficit to finish in fifth place after a 3-2 (18-25, 21-25,

U.S. Virgin Islands finish seventh
TIJUANA, Mexico, July 7 2012 — The US Virgin Islands team won
its first match in the NORCECA Boys’ U-19 Continental
Championship to finish in the seventh place of the tournament
after beating French Saint Martin 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 22-25,
25-21).
Aseah Thomas and Jordan Evans led the US Virgin Islands with 16
points apiece. For French Saint Martin Stephane Morisseau and
Ashille Brooks each tallied 12 each.

Mexico to play Cuba for the gold
TIJUANA, Mexico, July 6 2012 - Mexico advanced to the finals of
the NORCECA Boys’ U-19 Continental Championship by defeating
Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-16) in Friday’s semifinals.
The host team, already qualified to the U-19 World Championship
will match Cuba for the gold medal on Saturday night. Enrique
