Mexico’s Ontiveros and Virgen Pan Am Gold Medalists in Toronto
TORONTO, Canada, July 21, 2015. - Mexico’s Lombardo
Ontiveros and Juan Virgen became the Men’s Beach Volleyball
Gold medalists at the Toronto Pan American Games defeating
Brazil’s Alvaro Magliano and Vitor Araujo with a spectacular
comeback 2-1 (18-21, 13-21, 8-15). Ontiveros and Virgen had
another inspiring night, with good team effort and great
communication. The duo celebrated Mexico’s first Pan Am
title running to the full stands of the Chevrolet stadium to
hug their coach Salvador.

Argentina claims Pan American Title
TORONTO, Canada, July 21,
2015. – Ana Gallay and Georgina Klug of Argentina claimed the
Women’s Beach Volleyball Pan American Title defeating Cuban
Lianma Flores and Leila Martinez 2-1 (21-17, 19-21, 15-7) at
the Toronto Pan American Games. With the spectacular Chevrolet
Beach Volleyball Centre sold out completely, Ana Gallay and
Georgina celebrated Argentina’s first Pan American Beach
Volleyball Gold.

Uruguay faces Argentina for fifth place
TORONTO, Canada, July 20, 2015. - Renzo Caiurus and Mauricio
Vieyto of Uruguay will face Ian Mehamed and Nicolas
Capogrosso of Argentina for the fifth place of the men’s
Beach Volleyball Tournament at the Toronto Pan American
Games on Tuesday. Renzo Cairus and Mauricio Vieyto of
Uruguay downed Puerto Ricans Roberto Rodriguez and Erick
Haddock with no difficulties 2-0 (21-14, 21-12). It was a
slow match, both pushed hard with serves and spikes, but
Uruguay benefit.

Colombia and United States to battle for fifth place
TORONTO, Canada, July 20, 2015. – Andrea and Claudia Galindo of
Colombia and Kelley Larsen with Betsi Metter of the United
States will battle for fifth place at the women’s Beach
Volleyball Tournament of the Toronto Pan American Games.
Colombian sisters Andrea and Claudia Galindo beat Costa Rica’s
Karen Cope and Natalia Alfaro in three sets 20-13, 19-21, 15-12
to play for the fifth place of the competition. Galindo sisters
were strong, more connected and confident in their moves.

Brazil and Mexico to battle for Men’s BVB Gold
TORONTO, Canada, July 19. – Brazilian Alvaro Magliano and
Vitor Araujo will face Mexico’s duo of Lombardo Ontiveros
and Juan Virgen in the Men’s Gold Medal Match of the Toronto
Pan American Games.
Brazilian Alvaro Magliano and Vitor Araujo will defend
Brazil’s Pan-American title, while winning the semifinal
match to Cubans Nivaldo Diaz and Sergio Gonzalez 2-0 (21-17,
21-15). Alvaro, silver medalist at the 2013 world
championship with former partner Ricardo and two times
silver U21 and U23 medalists with Vitor, showed team effort
by maintaining focused.

Cuba and Argentina to play for Women’s BVB Pan Am Gold
TORONTO, Canada, July 19, 2015. - Lianma Flores and Leila
Martinez of Cuba will play for the Women’s Beach Volleyball Gold
at the Toronto Pan American Games against Ana Gallay and
Georgina Klug of Argentina at the Chevrolet Beach Volleyball
Centre.
Flores/Martinez and Gallay/Klug will face for the second time in
the tournament; they played in pool-play round with the Cubans
taking the win to top pool D.
Cuban Lianma Flores and Leila Martinez arrived into the battle
for their first Pan American.

Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Cuba are the Men’s BVB Final Four
TORONTO, Canada, July 18, 2015. - Brazil, Mexico, Chile and
Cuba won the men’s Beach Volleyball quarterfinals to reach
the Pan American Games Final Four in front of thousands of
fans at the Chevrolet Beach Volleyball Centre. The first two
quarterfinals were played under strong heat with Brazil and
Mexico defeating Uruguay and Canada respectively. On
Sunday’s semifinals Mexico’s Lombardo Ontiveros/Juan Virgen
meet Marco Grimalt/Esteban Grimalt of Chile and
Alvaro Magliano/Vitor Araujo of Brazil face.

Alfaro of Costa Rica prevailed over Mexico’s Bibiana
Candelas and Marta Revuelta 2-0 (21-18, 21-11) and upsets
their intentions in reaching the women’s Beach Volleyball
quarterfinals the Toronto Pan American Games. Bibiana
Candelas along with Marta Revuelta, silver medalist at the
last Pan American Games in Guadalajara, were caught off
guard by Karen Cope and Natalia Alfaro who performed with

BVB Men’s quarterfinals all set at Toronto
TORONTO, Canada, July 17, 2015. - The eight teams to compete
in the men’s Beach Volleyball quarterfinals of the Toronto
Pan American Games are all set for Saturday’s actions at the
Chevrolet Beach Volleyball Centre. Under a persistent rain
on Friday, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay and Puerto Rico won
the qualifier to the quarterfinals, where they join Canada,
Chile, Cuba and Brazil to battle to reach the semifinals.
Mexico’s Lombardo Ontiveros and Juan Virgen had a slow start
in their play-off match to Daneil Williams and Fabian
Whitfield of Trinidad and Tobago.

TORONTO, Canada, July 16, 2015. - Chile, Cuba and Canada won a
direct ticket to the quarterfinals of the men’s Beach Volleyball
tournament while finishing first place in their respective pools
at the XVIII Pan American Games in Toronto.
Chilean cousins Marco and Esteban Grimalt took advantage of
Puerto Rican’s Roberto Rodriguez and Erick Haddock unforced

Brazil tops Pool B at Men’s Pan Am BVB
TORONTO, Canada, July 15, 2015. - Brazilian Alvaro Magliano
and Vitor Araujo of Brazil dominated Pool B in the men’s
Volleyball Tournament of the XVIII Pan American Games
Toronto 2015 and advance into the quarterfinal round. A
spectacular performance by Brazilian Alvaro Magliano and
Vitor Araujo over Mexicans Lombardo Ontiveros and Juan
Virgen, grabbing the victory 2-0 (21-14, 33-31). Mexico’s
counter attack wasn’t enough to contain the Brazilians. Magliano/Araujo
topped Pool B undefeated and advance to the quarter-final
round. Vitor Araujo said.

TORONTO, Canada, July 14, 2015.- Day two of competition at the
women’s Beach Volleyball tournament of the Pan American Games
Toronto 2015 at the Chevrolet Beach Volleyball Centre concluded
with four unbeaten duos, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica and Uruguay.
Actions began with a cloudy morning and with a light rain during
the first match between Liliane Maestrini/Carol Horta of Brazil
and Chile’s Francisca Rivas/Pilar Mardones. Maestrini/Horta
managed to beat Rivas/Mardones 21-16 and 21-7, to continue
unbeaten in Pool B.
