Elvis Contreras MVP of the Central American Games
CORDOBA, México, November 30 2014 - Dominican Elvis Contreras
was recognized as the Most Valuable Player of the Men’s
Volleyball Tournament at the XXII Central American and Caribbean
Games.
Contreras was also distinguished as Scoring Leader and Best
Attacker. As Second Best Attacker, Cuban Javier Jimenez got the
honors, while Wilfrido Hernandez, from Dominican Republic
finished as Best Blocker and his fellow patriot, German Recio
was the Second Best Blocker.

Dominican Republic win first crown at CACG
CORDOBA, Mexico, November 30 2014 - Dominican Republic conquered
their first crown at the Central American and Caribbean Games
after beating Puerto Rico 3-2 (25-22, 23-25, 23-25, 25-22,
24-22).
Elvis Contreras, who became the MVP of the competition, scored
32 points and Jose Caceres 27 for Dominican Republic, that
surrendered 36 points, while Hector Soto scored 26 and Maurice
Torres 16 for Puerto Rico that gave up 34.
In blocking, Dominican Republic was up 18-10 against Puerto Rico
that registered a better ballance in collective aces.

Cuba claim the bronze medal
CORDOBA, México, November 30, 2014 - Cuba claimed the bronze
medal at the XXII Central American and Caribbean Games after
beating Mexico in straight sets. Scores were 25-19, 43-41
and 25-22.
Osmany Uriarte registered 23 points for Cuba, while Javier
Jiménez and Livan Osoria finished with 14 apiece.
Iván Márquez scored 17 and Carlos Guerra tallied 13 (2 aces)
for Mexico.
Cuba Dominated 10-8 in blocks and 5-2 in collective aces,
with 2 by Javier Jimenez and 2 by Livan Osoria. Mexico gave
up 29 points by error and Cuba 23.

Venezuela close in fifth place at CACG
CÓRDOBA, México, November 30, 2014 - Venezuela concluded
their participation at the XXII Central American and
Caribbean Games in fifth place after beating Bahamas 25-13,
25-13 and 25-14
Roberth Abreu closed with 13 points and Luis Arias Guzmán,
registered 11. On the Bahamas’ side, PrinceTanique Wilson as
well as Romel Lightbourn and Lorenzo Williams, closed with
three points apiece. Venezuela won the blocking duel 6-3 as
well as in services with 3 aces by Arias Guzmán.

Colombia finish in seventh place in last match for Trinidadian
Tash
CORDOBA, Mexico, November 30 2014 - Colombia finished their
participation at the Central American and Caribbean Games in
seventh place after beating Trinidad and Tobago in straight sets
25-15, 25-21, 25-13.
Julian Churi and Carlos Alomia closed with 10 points apiece for
Colombia, while Colin Bernard scored 11 for Trinidad and Tobago
in the last international match of captain Nolan Tash, who
retired after 20 years of career.
Ryan Stewart finished with 8 points for Trinidad and Tobago and
a very applauded Tash tallied his last 7 points.

Puerto Rico will look for their fourth gold in a row at CACG
CÓRDOBA, Mexico, November 29, 2014 - Second finalists of this
competition were Puerto Rico that defeated Mexico in four sets
(25-21, 25-21, 23-25 and 25-14). Juan Figueroa, Hector Soto and
Maurice Torres played in a combined offense with 16, 15 and 14
points respectively. Carlos Guerra finished with 15 points for
Mexico that came from behind in the third set. Puerto Rico
worked hard with their blocking game in the fourth, and with
their serving strategy. However Mexico finished up 3-2 in aces
with two by Pedro Rangel.

Dominican Republic, first finalist at CACG
CORDOBA, Mexico, November 29, 2014 - Dominican Republic became
the first finalist of the Men’s Competition at the XXII Central
American and Caribbean Games.
Dominican Republic beat Cuba 3-1 (25-23, 25-20, 14-25, 25-20) in
a battle between two coaches from Cuba, like Rodolfo Sanchez and
Jose Angel Alvarez, this last one in charge of Dominican
Republic. Elvis Contreras commanded the Dominican offense with a
total of 22 points and José Cáceres registered 17. On the Cuban

Bahamas Outdclass
Colombia in historical
victory at CAC

29, 2014 - Bahamas gave the big surprise of the classification
round for places 5 to 8 after beating Colombia in straight sets
32-30, 27-25 y 25-19 at the XXII Central American and Caribbean
Games.
This was a historical victory for the Bahamas, in their first
Central American and Caribbean Games, and will look to contend

and Tobago in straight sets (25-22, 25-15, 25-21) in the
classification round for places 5 to 8 of Men’s Competition at

Guerra commands great offense as Mexico qualify to
Semi-finals

a 32 points offense for Mexico in a five setter win over
Venezuela to qualify to the semifinals of Men’s Volleyball

Cuba defeat Colombia to advance to semis at CACG
CORDOBA, Mexico, November 28, 2014 - Cuba clinched their ticket
to the semifinals at Men’s competition of the XXII Central
American and Caribbean Games after beating Colombia 3-0 (25-18,
26-24, 25-22).
Osmany Uriarte Mestre closed with 14 puntos and Felix Chapman
with 10 for Cuba. On the Colombian side Andrés Pizá and Humberto
Machacón closed with 13 points apiece. Cuba Dominated in
blocking 7-3 and 4-2 in services. The Caribbean team surrendered
20 points, while Colombia.

Mexico get second victory after five sets against Colombia
CORDOBA, México, Noviembre 27, 2014 - Mexico defeated Colombia
in the last match of Pool A at Men’s Volleyball Competition at
XXII Central American and Caribbean Games. Mexico won in five
sets 27-25, 18-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-12. Both teams advanced to
the quarterfinals that will be played on friday.

Central American and Caribbean Games.
Puerto Rico won in straight sets 25-19, 25-23 and 27-25.

surprising team of Bahamas 3-1 (25-12, 21-25, 15-13, 25-17)
to improve their record 2-1 at XXII Central American and
Caribbean Games.
Kervin Pinerua topped with 15 points, while Emmerson
Rodríguez finished with 13 for Venezuela, while Fernando
Gonzalez and Jesus Chourio, registered 10 apiece.

Dominican Republic with 22 points, while José Cáceres and German

Cuba beat Venezuela to reach second victory
CORDOBA, Mexico, November 26, 2014 - Cuba beat Venezuela in
straight sets (30-28, 25-18, 25-19) to get their second win at
the Men’s Tournament of the XXII Central American and Caribbean
Games.
Javier Jimenez, Osmany Uriarte and Isbel Mesa topped the Cuban
arsenal with 16, 13, and 10 points, respectively.
Kervin Pinerua was the best scorer for Venezuela, by totalizing
13 units. Cuba began to struggle with their reception while
Venezuela worked hard on the net.

Colombia get first win at CACG
CORDOBA, Mexico, November 26, 2014 - Colombia defeated
Trinidad and Tobago in straight sets 25-10, 25-23 and 25-13
to get their first victory at Central American and Caribbean
Games.
Carlos Alomia tallied 10 points for the Colombian team while
Carlos Mosquera and Kevin Caraball finished with 9 apiece.
For the Trinidadians, Simon Blake topped with 9. Colombia
dominated in the blocking game 10-6 and 7-0 in aces,

Men’s competition at CACG to begin on Tuesday
FORTIN DE LAS FLORES, Mexico, November 24, 2014 - Action of
Men’s Volleyball competition at XXII Central American and
Caribbean Games begins on Tuesday.
The Preliminary inquiries process took part on Saturday and
Sunday, after the arrival of teams, while a new practical
clinic was developed on Monday at the Cordoba Arena in the
afternoon.

Puerto Rico seek their four gold in a row at CACG
CORDOBA, Mexico, November 23, 2014 - Puerto Rico will look
to conquer their fourth gold medal in a row, as the Men’s
Competition of the XXII Central American and Caribbean Games
begins on Tuesday.
After winning the regional title in Mayaguez four years ago,
the Puerto Ricans seek also their fifth gold overall,
considering that their first medal was won in 1938. Since
2002 the Caribbean squad have finished atop on the podium.
